So I'm building a new computer soon, and I have a budget of about $1,200 for this little project. Combined, these equal about $1,154. I asked a friend to help me come up with some specs that I could afford within that price range, and this is what I got. Does anyone have any suggestions/comments or perhaps other builds? I'm working on getting a system that'll run tfc with 100 fps, and be good enough to play just about any other game currently at a decent rate. Thanks for any help in advance. :o

with tha budget, get a 3700+ SD processor. I would rather have a 7800gt or a 7900... and the rest seem's ok :D

agreed. oh and why are you getting a CRT monitor? LCDs have come along way since the age-old days of constant ghosting (read: trails) and then they also take less power, less room, create less eye strain, and put out less heat. Besides that, everything looks good, I don't know much about that mobo though, although it sounds fine.

I figured since CRT is cheaper, and less prone to breaking.. I also heard they were better for the fps. Size isn't really an issue, or heat. I just wanted a monitor that worked and was cost-effective.

thrash - Are you sayin' the 3700+ SD processor is comparable in price but superior in preformance?

And what about the mobo Janus?

It cost more, but with your budget you should be able to handle it... I built a system for a friend in irc for 900 with dualcore 3800, sli mobo, 2gb ram, 7800gt, and 160gb hd... all for under 1k

I do like your suggestion on the 7900 gt, everything I have read about it says it's a superior card for a good price. It's also smaller than most video cards, so it should fit in that particular case better.

Keep em comin' guys, I wanna build this thing in a week :o

From a cost point of view, CRT can't be beat. I like LCD's, but to get the performance you need for playing games they cost double what a CRT will set you back.

I've got the Yamakawa DVDRW Y08 (i think) and swear by it. The firmware is upgradeable as well.

This keyboard rapes and is alot cheaper than Logitech http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16823175104
