Well Ive been having bad problems with HL/HL2 (low fps) I ran a 3dmax test and got results of 1600s (terrible)
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=205867
(my sytem specs are in the above link, also running winxp64 and have latest vid card drivers)
After online reasearch it seems i need a new power supply
Is this correct?
I have this one
Peak load 430W (not sure how to find out the amperage levels)
here it is
Award MDL:EP-43058
this is the current power supply (http://72.14.203.104/search?q=cache:o_cwBAb4LtAJ:www.ubid.com/actn/opn/getpage.asp%3FAuctionId%3D800283534+award+EP-43058&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=3)
any help will be appreciated
thanks

Sup yuk! I would look at the Antec 500w PSU at newegg. They have the best psu's i've used on a basic computer. Below is the link...

the amperage levels are on the sticker on the side of the actual power supply. sorry I forgot to tell you in the benching forum. good suggestion there thrash. I would either get that or the Fortron (FSP Group) AX-500 (http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?name=PS-FS500A) It has actually gone up $10 from it's usual $73 so if you wanted to wait it would probably go back down.

I have the FSP AX500-A and I like it a lot. The rails are rock solid, and it has dual 12V rails (if that's a plus for you).

I very much doubt low fps is a PSU issue. It would be the last thing on my list of things to check, right under "is my hair combed".

Yes, Make sure your drivers are good. Have you tried to use a set of "old" drivers?

Dump the whole X64 setup and go back to plain old XP.

I dunno, If you have an nvidia card and if it were the PSU and your vid card wasn't getting enough juice, you'd get a prompt telling you so, I did. You could prob take the PSU to comp usa to get it checked, but I'd just buy a $10 PS checker to see if it's corrupt. First, I'd just make an image of your HD and reformat w/ a diff OS. GL
#styles to mulch when you fix it :)

Yeah, You could make a partition on your hard drive and install regualr windows XP and install drivers there. Then if your fps is fixed you will know that it is your OS.
