So I've come to a cross road with two choices for a monitor.

I'm torn between a CRT and LCD. Which of these two would be better for playing TFC with?

i prefer a big crt for gaming.. better response times and color..

however, for bling factor, you can't beat an lcd/plasma.. especially if you have people over to check out your rig..

my old 21" crt is a monster too.. it takes up a shitload of desk space, but it's wonderful for gaming.. i will eventually give it up for a huge panel, but that's way down the road

well I was comparing the two of those monitors to see which would be superior for gaming in TFC & Games of that nature. I'm leaning more toward the CRT just to minimalize any video lag since I have been plagued by that in the past.

if you wanted to get an LCD the one I would look at is the Samsung 940B, it is about $220 right now from newegg. I personally love my LCD a lot more than my old CRT. Takes up less space, puts out less heat, uses less energy, and it doesn't give me headaches over long periods of time. The motion blur on my monitor is negligable. I play all types of games (mostly fps/rpg/mmo) and ever since the first day or two of getting used to it I loved it. The picture feels much more crisp and clear, I also like it for the digital output as well.

Hm, thanks for the input. I am 99% sure I am going with the LCD I listed here from new egg, though if you could provide me with a link to your samsung on newegg I would take a look at it.

my bad, I was thinking of the 740b (17'' LCD) for $220.

Here is a Hyundai (many people recommend it) 19'' 8ms: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824179030

and a Viewsonic http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824116363

That Hyundai looks nice. Shit, I might go get 2 of thoes when i go LCD shopping....

Although, I don't see DVI. Does DVI make "that big of a difference"? I see a lot of well priced LCD's but they don't have DVI. Its the only thing that turns me off. Do you suggest that i try to stay with the DVI? Is there a huge performance difference?

Awesome thanks for the links. I'm gonna go with the Samsung 740B instead of the LCD I had posted here. Wether or not the DVI port is nessisary, I have heard good things about Samsungs and I don't mind springing for that extra thirty for a bit better quality and performance. Although my computer project is pushin a bit higher in the prices than what I had anticipated, it's all coming together nicely. :o

thx all.

I like the 950B myself.
