(@lb) I am 16.983353 years old

In light of the event, I'm not sure what I should do with the incoming birthday money. My best friend's whole family works at circuit city and can probably get me a good deal on an open box PSP. The main reason I'd do it is to play RPGs, as I dont have the patience to do it when im just sitting in my house - I'd rather play them on the run or something when its my only thing to do.

Now, I was REALLY hoping kingdom hearts was on psp as I've been wanting to play that game forever and dont have a ps2, but apparently it doesnt exist. So my question:

Is the PSP even worth getting right now? Are there any good time consuming games on it? Should I just save my money for college?

Well there is a lot of shit you can do for it to make it the best, but I probably can't talk about it on here. Hit me up in irc whenever you get on.

You can say what it is, what everyone has, Emulators.

I got mine in December along with 2 1gb sticks. I have SSX, Legend of Heroes, X-Men, and LOTR Tactics. I'm like you, a huge RPG lover, LoH is the only RPG I have because it was the only one that looked half decent, however it's not. The artwork/visuals are amazing for a handheld, but the gameplay is just lacking. There are like 2-3 RPG's that look good that will come out in the next few months, but for now mostly I just use it to watch movies/shows/SNES.

i use mine as a MP3 player mainly, but other then that it's for SSX. The internet option is kinda cool, just takes a few mins to type the URL in.

lb, you can run your car off of a psp just like james bond and run it with the analog stick.

I've got madden 06 and 2 rpgs, although I haven't been traveling lately so I can't really tell you about either of them.

Outside of that it also works like an ipod.

Madden06 is pretty much all I play on it during train ride to/from work. I would pass on that until 07 comes out. 06 for PSP was never designed on a PSP before its release. the entire game was developed and emulated on a PC. Madden07 will be rebuilt, from the ground up.

I have basically played Xmen and Madden on mine. It is perfect for me because im always on a plane (mond and thurs)... So it makes the plane flights go fast. X-Men was a lot of fun. And Madden has been so far, a little easy at times too. Oh yeah, i played Grand Theft Auto for awhile, but got bored and havent played it in awhile.

overall, i was really impressed with the graphics and did not expect it at all. I think its a waste of $$ to buy movies for it. I already spend 17 bux on the ones i DO want on DVD.

But besides that I never touch it. I just got a PSP this past december.

Im also 24, and have a full time job. Thus, i am not nearly the same gamer I was in college.

(randomly put these paragraphs in order, hope it makes sense lol)

interesting indeed!

Angel, what RPGs are coming out that you think are possibly good? Are there any plans to port over older classic games? Will there ever be a keyboard to make webbrowing more normal?

having a keyboard would kind of defeat the purpose of it being portable. Even a small keypad would be stupid.

I like mine. I have Burnout Ledgends, Lumines, and Wipeout Pure, all of which I like. The main reason I got it was for a portable movie player though. I don't waste money on the umd movies. I got a program to convert DVD movies to play on the PSP and throw that on a memory stick. Works pretty well.

Magus beat me to it.

Buy a DS... you can play any game you want with your friends, and some are even WiFi (like mario kart and tetris) where you can play online with people all over the world...

I was very skeptical about this machine, but am extremely pleased with mine. The games are very origianl and fun. They are also making an Opera mini browser version for it, meaning you'll be able to browse the net with it.

And the touch screen kicks ass.

Metroid Prime: Hunters was too hard for me to figure out in the store, unfortunately I don't have the time to master the controls in order to crush people on WiFi.

What program? I can not seem to find anything that works for me :(
