Alright, for my History of Visual Communications class I have to create a celtic design incorporating my initials (J and B) and an animal. Now.. I have what I want in mind mapped out. I just need some help on picking a good animal. I dont want the usual Dragon, Bird, Snake, etc. I want something different. A Goat was suggested I kind of like that but I thought I'd try to get more opinions. Thanks.


By the way, I'll scan it when I'm done, so you jerks can actually see my art :-P

rams usually work well, their horns can be awesome to draw and look awesome if done right.

if I wanted a stupid response like rawdawg.. I wouldn't have posted here. Most people that post in the Art Gallery are actually semi-serious about art. Please go away.


And, Yeah Cal I thought about that.. I think I'm leaning more towards that but I don't want to commit to it yet

ground hog, komodo dragon if you wan't something way different, or even some australian animals like the koala, kangaroo, etc. maybe even a walrus with tusks. not quite sure what criteria you're looking for though. so sorry if i didn't help one bit

maybe research the traits and personalities of animals and also research what that animal meant to the culture from which it came? Would be a good start so you can back your choice of animal to your teacher with symbolism.

Some things to look into : Pheasant, Mink, Badger, Dart Frog, Large Mouth Bass, Mongoose, Coon,

Thanks for the help guys, yeah I'm gonna end up doing alot of research for this. Project is worth quite a bit so I'm spending a good month on it

well vDuB I would reccomend any of the following animals.

Horse
Swan
Unicorn
Wren
Hawk
Crow
Crane

This list would be animals that I would choose personally:
Magpie
Lynx
Fox
Raven
Griffin
Wolf
