What is the best way for me who plays the HWG 90% of the time to take down a Solider?

if your aim is near perfect at close range a soldier cant kill you ever. unless you die to a nade on the ground after the soldier dies

Navigate your crosshair to his hitbox, which is usually indicated by the soldier model you're using.
Now, press down fire and attempt to keep your crosshair on his hitbox, and conversely, his model, until he pretends to lie down.
That is the death animation, but be sure to check the upper right corner of your screen to make sure that the kill registered. Good job, you know how to kill a soldier!

Try to time his rockets and jump over each one so that they wont hurt as much (all while aiming of course).

I find that jumping makes it harder to keep track onto a soldier. So when I see a soldier close range, I just don't jump. You should be able to kill a soldier close range pretty fast.

i AC and sometimes if i'm low i'll ac real quick, pull out my shotty do some quick bhop/dodging and shotty the guy while i have a nade primed... try different shit, i certainly don't play any class like anyone else.

yeah a sol should die really fast, if they jump they will get stopped and they dont have enough speed to dodge so just aim at his chest and he will die.
but if you are an hw and your 1v1 aggainst a soldier will full health and 4 rockets you should die. Probably shouldent jump or duck much, just strafe 1 way and shoot.
and dont shotty a soldier close range, thats pointless, the ac should own them.

anyone with a rocket seems to own me that or all the nade spaming but i was playing a guy from the ts clan and he was just owning me with his rockets i could kill him if it was just me and him but if he hit me with one rocket in the air by the time i would land he would be behind me and kill me

2. after he shot all 4 rockets, use ac.

You said "by the time I land he's behind me" which implies you aren't following him with your aim as you are airborne. Keep firing your AC while in midair and keep your aim on him. When you get popped up by a rocket, its easy to get pre-occupied. Just ignore it and keep the aim on the opponent. Also, remember the moment you stop firing it takes time for your AC to spin up and fire again. So to avoid that I would simply not let go of the fire button at all once you are in a one-on-one situation (or even heavy incoming traffic.)
If you are pretty far apart, jump and crouch a lot - it's easy to jump over rockets, since the majority of soldiers aim for the feet/knees. Once your are close, jumping is kinda pointless. Get a bead on his face/neck/chest with your AC and shred 'em. Never stop moving, simply strafe side to side or circle strafe while maintaining the aim.
Thats the basic HW stuff. There are other finer things but that will come with time.

jump up when he shoots at your feet, reduces the damage. if hes reloading, dont jump

Interesting point. I happen to use reduced rocket flares, so I may have forgotten what it's like with the default rocket flare. I wouldn't go out of the way and get reduced rocket flares just yet. Try working on what (most) of the people posted above. Also - you should be able to see a few milliseconds of your enemy moving before you get blinded. You should expect that person to continue moving in that direction and as such turn your aim that way to increase your chances of getting hits, rather than stopping and waiting for the flares to go away. 90% of TFC fighting is prediction / extrapolation of movement.

i guess it would depend on if the hwguy gets hard, then it would be solider...

a good solly is a tough fight but you can win. These guys have listed quite a lot of useful tips, but the biggest thing I can suggest is not to get discourged even if you are doing all of these things and not succeeding. Sooner or later your aim will sharpen up and you'll notice how much easier people die when you keep the majority of your firing on them constantly.

you jump forward while shooting and aim for the belly untill you get close and aim for the face, if theres 2 hopefully you have nades. or the sollys are noobs.

I'm not sure if he includes the neck as the face, but I always go for the neck when up close. It splashes blood in their face and makes you harder to see. But that was like 3+ yrs ago, I don't know what kind of things people are changing these days.
But yeah, I agree with Wheaties also. Jumping when closeup is a bad idea. It messes up your aim,harder to block them,much harder(for me) to predict where they're going, and you can sometimes get body shotted a lot more. I usually just try to jump(figuratively, although it can help, but don't continue after you have blocked them) infront of them, or trap them in a corner/hall.
I only jumped to evade/invade faster,block,rev/shoot the gun without slowing down(I don't think the shooting part applies anymore),or to aim at something I couldn't have without jumping.
One of your main objective is not really to kill them, but to stop/slow them from heading to their destination(also to call it out, thats a big part of being HWG, is calling where they're going). Killing is the optimal plan, but you can't always get that kill even with HWG.
For me, it wasn't the soldiers that I had a hard time with, it was the engies. Engies with emps were something I feared. HWGs carry a lot of cells, and that EMP has a big damage radius and can go thru walls. One of those could kill you, or sink almost all your health away.
