I know that we have a lot of Battlefield 2 players that frequent the Cats, so I'm sure one of you must have the Euro Force booster pack.
Is it worth the $10? I haven't heard that much about it, but a friend from work is recommending that I get it. Since I've recently bought the Special Forces expansion and I feel like I have all the BF2 I need for awhile. But if it's worth it, I'll pick it up.
Any comments?

I'm not getting it, it's liek a stand alone mod like sf almost, some servers are euro only, some bf2.
Plus all my favorites are regular bf2, and i only play it ocasionally.

From what I understand, there are 5 new weapons, a few new vehicles, a new army, and 3 or 4 new maps. I guess if you want to be able to play on any server, then get it. I might wait to see if I hear anything special about it though.

I tried to buy it the other day and it would not even let me download it because I run Win2K....

I wound up buying it because first I downloaded it from a Torrent from someone that had several users say it was a good download. Unfortunately, it messed up my files and I couldn't even play BF2 with it installed, so I completely uninstalled BF2/BF2:SF and reinstalled, and then bought the booster legit. The purchase is linked to your Battlefield 2 user name, so that may explain why it didn't work (I dunno, I didn't really research it much).
Here's what I've gotten out of a couple of days of play. It's not really an expansion. It simply adds 3 more maps that contains 1 new team (European Union). The game claims to have 7 new weapons, but only 5 are really new as the other 2 are unlocks from Special Forces if you already have that. My friends that referred me to the game claimed that all 7 "new" weapons were unlocks for BF2 like Special Forces did, but this is inaccurate. Those new weapons are just the class defaults for the EU group, this disappointed me greatly, as I was hoping for an extra weapon to choose from in BF2 and it was the main reason I paid for it.
The new maps are pretty decent. They are very vehicle based, as there are 4 new vehicles (2 tanks, a plane and a chopper), which was mentioned by someone else. But it appears that the 3 new maps are small and medium sized only, so there isn't a special 64 player sized map, although you can definitely play 64 on the medium size. The frags come fast with this. And they are all desert maps.
Great Wall pits EU vs China and you're fighting at the Great Wall of China, obviously. It's pretty cool that you can fight along the wall or on the wall and be completely oblivious to the other, so it's like a 2 tier map.
Operation Smoke Screen pits EU vs MEC in a burning oil field. Alot of the areas are covered in smoke from the oil, which provide great cover. It's probably the better of the new maps, IMO. Very tank heavy.
Taraba Quarry is also EU vs MEC. The bigger map takes place across a river, where the majority of the battle happens in an even game. Another very tank heavy map.
It's not uncommon to see a 3 on 3 tank battle in these maps, which is neat. But seeing half of your team spawn as Anti-tank because they overpower the maps is not.
It's still early for me, but so far I feel jipped. As I mentioned before, there really are no new unlocks if you already own BF2:SF. The 3 new maps don't seem to justify the extra $10 for me. But it is still early and they may grow on me. Playing as Europe doesn't excite me in the least. It feels the same as any other team in BF, and none of the new weapons are really any better than your available unlocks.
So far there are only about 30 servers playing the Euro maps, and most of them are European servers. The few that are local (less than 200 ping) are pretty good. It's nice to hit a server that has Euro and original BF2 maps mixed in rotation.
Recommended if you're a Battlefield 2 completist, or if you really want to listen to your team speak with an English accent (if you have the language thing still turned on). Pass if 3 new maps don't interest you.
I'll post again after I get more experience with it if anyone else is interested.

TBH, we shoulda got these maps as free content... or at least 1 new map.
But it's all about the $$$, so you can't blame them.
I'm hooked on WC3 right now, gonna go get throzen throne. :)

It definately wasnt worth the $10.
I only love one map :
Operation Smoke Screen pwns!
China Wall is pretty but can you say choke points?
Tabarra Quarry - The other map is bland with just a few cool things.
The new army is cool, though I could care less if they had fifty armies. The new Euro tanks sucks (IMO).
Was on a server that didnt have enuf for ranked play so i said what the hell and flew around on Operation Smoke Screen on a jet. I did fairly well for my first real session flying. I was in a MEC jet and it seemed to fly easier than other jets I had climbed in before.
Overall a waste of money as I hardly ever play it.
But then again I bought Special Forces for $30 and have played it just a handfull of times. I loved one of the maps set at night that you have to climb the mountain. I also like the one russian map with the train tracks down the center. Special Forces shoulda been the $10 and Euro Free.
Its bad enough you cant play custom maps but then again I guess they know we are all dying for new maps so it makes sense to squeeze a dollar out for thesse I guess.

Not Euro related, but I have to agree that almost all the SF maps are good, with the lone exception of Iron Gator. I haven't spoke with one person that tells me that the map doesn't lag them. I can't get a decent shot off because of the lag, and my game doesn't lag on any other map. A good example of how NOT to make a BF2 map.
