WoW - Looking for something new?

Myself and a buncha tfc'ers have started a horde guild on Scilla (new pvp server). We welcome anyone from the tfc community that wants to join, as long as you aren't an ass. It is a pretty small guild right now and we are all fairly casual, laid back players just looking to have some fun. To anyone who wants to join that is worried about being behind and having to play catchup: we've got people in the guild as low as level 7 and as high as 35. I have already made the guild tabard and can work on providing ventrilo/teamspeak if the demand is there. Many of our members have previous WoW experience, and some of our members have just purchased the game recently.

well, you'd have to buy the game, then pay 10-15 dollars a month. thats the part i dont like. i'd rather just buy it, and have that be the only financial obligation to the game. if that was the case, i'd SO be playing WoW right now.

i think it is, but i guess it really depends what kind of games you are into. you could buy guildwars, and pay no monthly fee...but i hear that it doesn't come close to being as good as wow. and you can set up your account so you get billed $15 every month. as soon as you decide u want to stop playing, or want to sell the game...you can just stop the monthly payments.

your best bet would be to get a trial account from a friend who has wow, or play on a friends account who has it. try it out, get a feel for it, and decide whether or not the game is for you.

Well, I personally have cancelled WoW 2 times now, but both times were to try other mmorpgs with monthly payments. I always end up coming back to WoW though. To me it is obviously worth the payments, but it might not be to someone else...just a matter of opinion I guess. It doesn't appear that Blizzard is still offering any type of 14 day free trial, but if you think you'd enjoy WoW, then you can always just buy the game...first month is free. If WoW isn't for you then you can just cancel and you would only be out the money you paid to buy the game (which i think you can get for $30 at some places).

15 dollars a month is really nothing - figure out how much you spend eating out or doing other things to get an example

say, you eat out 5 times a week at 8 dollars a meal. that's 40 dollars a week or 160 dollars a month. if you eat out two times less over the month, you've easily put wow in place.

even if you don't spend much or don't have a lot of money, the 15 dollars a month is really an effective timesink for the amount of money. considering 6-9 dollars for a movie that lasts two hours, you would only get 4 hours before you have already gone over for the 15 dollars you need for wow.

it's cheap, buy it, play it, and try to have fun :D

well, it's a bunch of tfcers and a few non-tfcers. a few of us already have 60's on other servers with numerous lvl 20-50 alts.

it's a fun guild with fun people - join it if i you want. but if you have friends, especially real life friends play with them. or at least play where ever you think you will have the most fun.

also the 15$/month gives you new game every once in a while. every 3 months or so they come out with a new dungeon, each of which has an almost endless amout of replayabillity. so you are basically paying for a new game every 3 months. . . thats how i look at it anyway.

As a general rule of thumb, I've noticed that playing other games with TFCers is a waste of time (aside from thixo, he is just too awesome). I aksed Final but he never seemed interested in playing with me- I guess he got tired of all my insults. Also, many TFC players just didn't seem to have the extended interest to keep playing (as some of them just prefer the pre-60 grind which is just unbelievably boring for me). It's kinda stupid to level up a character and then not have anyone to play with. Hopefully, that won't be the case on your new server and I wish you all the best of luck.

Not at all sir Unfor. I found you to be entertaining and quite the scholar at that. I'm always interested in playing with TFCers, but like you said, they all like the grind and hate the endgame shit, which is totally backwards for me. Endgame shit is infinitely better than grinding to 60. There's just a lot of people more interested in server hopping rather than actually progressing past level 60 in terms of gear and shit. So basically my excuse is I fucking hate leveling shit to 60, especially if theres a risk that once that character reaches 60 that everyone will just bail anyways. :(

Well, I of course do hope that people will stick with it, but if they choose to keep hopping servers then that is their own perogative. They'll just simply never progress in the game. Perhaps they are hopping servers because they expected something different than what was actually there...I don't know.

The origin of me wanting to play on Scilla began when my brother wanted to start on a fresh server because there is much more satisfaction reaching goals when not everybody on the server has already completed them. Players feel they can contribute much more by leveling to 60 with _everybody_ else as opposed to trying to play catchup from 1-60, and then playing catchup while you try to hunt epics with people already stacked with them.

Anyways, my brother recently got into the premiere guild on Stormreaver, where we have our level 60 alliance characters. After that he wasn't really playing on Scilla much anymore and I wasn't sure what I wanted to do. Shooters came to me and told me he got 6 or 7 people to play on Scilla with him, and that was enough for me to decide I wanted to stay. Since then, many others have joined us and my brother has decided to keep playing on Scilla and occasionally raiding on Stormreaver.

Ya...little history lesson on why _I_ decided to play on another server, and I'm sure others have their reasons too. Either way, everybody seems to be having a good time so far. I don't have any huge expectations in the form of long-term goals for this guild other than pvping and doing blue isntances eventually. As far as raiding is concerned, if enough people want to join up, then it is absolutely possible. If not, we can either merge with another guild or stick to casual gaming.

ya its getting real solid. We ran a successful guild only WC run last night with a 27 hunter, 20 hunter, 19 war, 21 priest and 18 mage. Everyone is playing pretty regularly on this server now, so join us on there and have some fun. Ill be on there tonight, 22 mage named Auto.

The original 6 that rolled horde there are still there. Angel and DK are almost 60, also. I see them online every day.

Neither angel nor DK were one of the early originals. From what I remember, it was me, thix, raven, finch, jeppy, graffix and shoots, polarity. Polarity didn't level anyone beyond lvl 10 or so. Thus, jeppy was the first to leave, followed by finch and I; im not sure when shoots left, but thix doesnt play much anymore (nobody to play with). thix's problem was that no one could simply keep up with him in terms of leveling. the guy could easily be chinese farmer material.

it just got relatively boring when you expect to play with a certain core of people (at least some of the time, i wasnt asking anyone to hold my hand 24/7)- and you rarely played with them (if at all). the only time i grouped with anyone it seemed was when they needed help with something (this includes people who were a higher level than me). that combined with no one offering or responding to me asking for help (aside from thix) did not at all make it particularly enjoyable. im not bitter by any means, and plan on playing on that server recently (as soon as thix starts playing again) but just to reiterate, people just aren't very hepful, inviting or fun to play with for whatever reason.

compare this to a server where you have two level 60s who run endgame (much more fun than the pre-60 grind to me as final mentioned) and people who are always whispering you or asking you in guild chat to run something with them.

And my guild just downed Nef last night for the first time on the Horde side on my server (New server as of November 2005), 2 10 storms, cape and mail belt dropped. NO ROGUE LOOT AGAIN.

Its ok, my rogue is in 6/8 Nightslayer, BF Pants/Shoulders, Dragonfang Blade and Corehound Tooth dagger combo, he has a Claw of the Black Drake and Spineshatter too... but they hang out in the bank.

As far as I know, there haven't been transfers for Scilla. It is a newer server and the amount of level 60s is pretty small still.

as broken as mentioned, Tauren(aoe stun is very useful and extra health(not much but everybit helps)) or undead(the wotf is also very useful) are the better choices, trolls and orcs i really dont see many. Personally I would do a Tauren over undead but either one is good choice. Be whatever ya wanna be though, just are slight advantages.

undead - the will of the forsaken (immunity to sleep, charm, fear effect and breaks them) is absolutely amazing. i'd give a leg for my human warrior to have that racial skill.

tauren - big fat targets. the aoe stun has its uses, but it's not remotely as useful as wotf.

orc - 25% stun resist! i'd personally take orc as my second choice because you utterly dominate stun classes. rogue have a terrible time stunning you, you resist charges/intercepts/fire stuns, etc.

You forget that taurens get 5% more health.

So when you're talking flask of titans, lifegiving gems, last stand, that 5% can really add up.

This is talking PvE of course

Edit: shit it was already mentioned. and I just happen to think taurens are the best PvE tank choice. Orcs are good for PvE DPS (+5 axes, that reduces the damage reduction of glancing blows) and PvP as well. Undead are the PvP choice. and Trolls sit somewhere in between there.

+5 axes really helps, you'll find that by the time you get to BWL you'll use Edgemaster handguards over Flameguard, the 7+ weapon helps a ton, it raises your max DPS by 10% sometimes, so the 5+ you can see definately helps if you wind up going Deathbringer/Edge of Chaos (Duel-Wield), but yeah.

Btw, Tauren look sick as shit in plate :)

A lot of us already have level 60 alliance chars on Stormreaver. Oh, and about what race for warrior...its not a huge deal either way...just pick what you think looks the coolest. If you are that concerned about having the best pvp racial abilities, then choose undead or tauren. FYI, undead arent _always_ immune to fear, its only when you use the racial. It lasts for a few seconds and has a few minute cooldown.

The "nerfbat" has been hitting warriors from the ground up ever since WoW was released. Their true potential was unleashed when people started getting mass Arcanite Reapers and just basically started getting huge mortal strike crits. Warriors has been getting nerfed ever since. Even our talent review was a fucking JOKE for protection.

Warriors are fun in PvP, if you have a competant group, while you yourself are competant with CC. If not, have fun being poly'd, feared, stunlocked, and pretty much assist trained on continually.

But really, don't fear that the nerfbat will be hitting them soon, because it already has :).

EDIT: btw to the guy looking for a race for his warrior: roll Troll. My DW fury Troll warrior was crazy overpowered, and they are actually pretty crazy at tanking. Racials don't make the player ;).

While WotF is nice on undeads, the orc racials are better overall. Blood Fury and the 25% resistance to stuns are awesome for PvP.

Troll Warriors aren't bad for PvP, either, with the berserking racial.

Website is up and updated with a comic by Macgyver. Also, we've acquired a vent and are currently sitting at 42 members (accounts). The website roster is fairly accurate except for maybe 3-4 people who have been removed from guild for inactivity.

We are still looking for new members, so if you are interested in playing WoW with a bunch of TFC players, give us a shot. I don't need gear, and I hate raiding. I'm getting r12 this week, and 13 in a month. I also have Mindfang/Therazane's Touch now for my main and offhand.

After the patch, PvP gear will be better than Tier 2. More +Dmg (per piece), a lot more stam, and 10% damage reduction from players (or so I've heard).

Wont matter. Will take people months and months to get their full sets. They'll outgear us, but we'll still win. We beat teams with full tier2 now, 3 cap in gulch, 3-4 cap in basin. Life's good when you have R14s and a competent team.

Transfers have been opening up last few days, $25 per char, no pve to pvp though so keep that in mind. Just case your looking to move. Ive done it already for my pally from one server to another, only took 20 min from login to transfer to actually playing char on other server, so its working well! Looks like they been adding 6-8 server every/other day. about time heh been waiting for this for a LOOOONG time.

In all honesty, Prot warrior will be harder to fight for me than any other kind of warrior. Generally Higher +DEF, extra stuns (gg imp revenge + conc blow), and imp shield bash. MS monkeys dont even touch me in 99% of my 1v1s and fury warriors just get rocked by Frostbite.

that's because the felstriker has a really terrible high end for backstabs. do AV and get the lobo (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=19324) or get a perditions (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=18816) or something, your backstabs will go through the roof. doing av will also get you don julio's band (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=19325), a really rape ring.

and your shadowcraft bracers can be upgraded to darkmantle by doing a simple quest, which will give you 7 more strength on those bracers, but you'll need to get it reenchanted. but +7sta is cheap. read the patch notes people, you'll really be amazed at what you're missing. i die a little on the inside everytime i see someone w/ the easily pieces to upgrade of tier0 with endgame enchants, when they could be epic or just even better all around.

OR since your guild is capable of ZG, get the zandalar bracers (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=19836), all you need is a friendly rep and the drop off a boss, you don't need coins anymore.

yeah, felstriker is an amazing offhand dagger, especially when it procs. but you simply need a much higher top end to really get big backstabs.

Just wondering where most of you guys play, ill be starting a new character, prolly horde. I was never terribly experienced at WoW, got to lvl 45, got my mount, and got a little bored and just stopped playing. I would consider just transfering my character over to a new server, but i dont even know if its still saved or not. What happens if you dont pay your account for a year lol.
