Ok, so I have this project I'm working on in my typography class, and I know nor and a few others are good with that stuff so I figured I'd get your opinion. It's setup up for 11x17 printing and will be printed this week sometime for my class. So anything that needs tweaking or whatever would be helpful before hand :)

the fonts.com logo is impact yes.

and not to be a negative nancy, but i've seen so many typeface design posters and this isn't one of the best ones that i've seen.

it's very static and since theres so little going on what is there needs to be interesting. I think more contrast between the sizes of the "texture" type would help it's all pretty similar. I'm not sure really without seeing other options on this

the logo from fonts.com has to be used. thats part of the requirement, i can't change it. and thanks nor, i know its not going to be the "best", this is my first attempt at typography, im pretty new to it.

how much longer do you have to work on it?

What were the requirements. The various letters in the background just seem random, like the Q, S and A why did you use those? Also, maybe nor will help more, cause I hated typography, but the text explaining Adobe Jenson just needs some tweaking of somekind. You have all this space to work with, and that one paragraph just doesn't mesh with what is going on with the rest of the work. At first glance, I just thought it was a layout with your name, and didn't bother to read the paragraph cause it was small and insignificant. Try highlighting it more so that it is more visible somehow (Even at full size it was hard to read)

The a for sure doesn't work, neither does the Q, I think the shape of the S could be put to better use and also the paragraph contains a lot of hyphenations. And as the n0r said, maybe work on the contrast.

Fucking n0r is a typography genius, so listen to him.

the paragraph text is fine, it's 10 pt. like I said it's made for print not to be read on the computer. the Q and A are visual elements, I'm going to make little like dotted circles and whatnot and give a description of the charateristics of the font. Such as.. Serifs, the slant on the E, and the thin lines.

I think the project is due next thursday, I've put maybe 6-7 hours into it with concept drawing (many different variations) to computer roughs (which is what that is, not final). I only see 1 hyphen and thats right on the last line, if you could point out the others please do

this is off topic, i happen to have found a really old scratch board i did about 4-5 years ago of a friend. it's a reflective surface so trying to get a decent picture of it was hard. so it looks kind of blurred since i had to take it so close up.

its on gold leaf scratch board, about 8x11. maybe 3 hours of work

that's exactly how the picture was taken. there was no real "shadows" in the face. so what you see is exactly how the picture looked

heres something i'm currently working on. it's a Dada project..

not really sure where i want to go with it now

w/ the poster you might also want to consider changing the opacity/lightness of the letters more based on their depth in the design. It looks like you already did this to an extent with the q/s but since there is so little on there it's hard to tell.

and you've only put 6-7 hours into this? jesus h christ.
