LOL random boredom. I need to find someone around here for formal training, alas the closest worth the money is an hour plus drive away.

Not bad. Though I would have liked it a lot more had I seen you put nine in the bag before attacking it like that.

he's in Beach Grove Indiana, hence my need to "proove" to him that I am still staying in shape and he isn't.

That would be quite a feat... (putting nine in the bag).

If you're looking for a critique on your punching technique, then repost the video here. (http://www.sherdog.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=11) Be careful whose advice you take though, as sherdog has so many new 'know it alls' who actually don't know shit since the TUF show started up. Generally though, if you post in that particular sub-forum (standup technique), you'll get some really good advice from some real pros and amateurs alike. Although, the quality of the video isn't really good, and you're hitting a heavy bag so that naturally degrades some technique. If you're looking for sound advice, I suggest re-recording yourself shadowboxing for say 5 minutes or so then posting it on sherdog. Shadowboxing is where technique is perfected.

If there were a way for me to control my own body using a 360 controller and Fight Night 3.... I'd TKO you in the first round.

But I cant :(

seriously guys, thanks glad some of you kind of got the point of the thread, actuallly about three points. Thanks for the sherdog link, I need to get ahold of a friend from school, there is a boxing club about 45 minutes away, although I would much rather have one closer with gas prices right now.

Hey no problem. I'm actually looking for someone to spar and train with as well. My friends don't take martial arts as seriously as I do, so whenever I spar them one of them always 'makes it personal' and starts going ballistic with their shots. I can't blame them for being frustrated, my technique is just leaps and bounds above them, although thats not saying much :p

I know you wrestle, or used to. Have you looked into any BJJ schools in your area? A lot of BJJ schools offer muay thai as well, which might be an alternative to a traditional boxing club.

Sadly the only real training that is worth the effort or money is 45 minutes to an hour away, so during summer break this summer I want to go to a place in Columbus that few kids this graduated before me train at, they have a "semi-pro" league going on with many good young fighters training in the area, so that is my plan for this summer, just not enough time to drive an hour to school each way, work, plus drive an extra 45 minutes elsewhere to train.

Do you train BJJ now? From what I understand it is a great compliment to wrestling.

Nah, I don't train in it formally, although I do roll with my friends. I went to a few classes at the local mcdojo, and they were great, but the days they meet were days that I worked, and as in your case its about at 40 minute drive away, and without my licence I have no reliable way of getting there. So, I've got about million instructional dvds, and I roll on the matts with my friends at the local coast guard college. I'm ex-military so I have pass to their fitness center that civillians normally can't get, and they've got a great boxing/wrestling room with wall to wall matts lots of heavy bags and speed bags and such. It's all great fun. :)

sounds like a nice plan, yeah can't wait to get in the wrestling room next year with my old highschool and help with practices, now that i'm going to be going to school in my hometown it will make things easier. Mcdojo huh ;) heheh.

thanks man, still looking for somewhere around here to train over the summer and during school next year, I think it would be fun to have just one fight, if I lose and get my ass handed to me, then I need a new hobby, if I do well, then perhaps I will fight again. First though, I want to learn more striking and such.
