Music while gaming

I am getting a new computer very soon which should be able to play music while I game without effecting me. I was wondering If iTunes lags you or if you prefer to use winamp or if it matters. I like to use winamp yet iTunes does have all my music and wanted to know what you do.

Yep, doesn't hog resources, doesn't lag the game at all. My keyboard has all the hotkeys I need built in, so that's not a problem either.

Playin TFC on my laptop everytime it changes song iTunes lags the game for like 5 seconds. Might be the case with your new rig thou.

i use winamp and it doesn't hog resources... that or i just have enough to use winamp and play tfc at the same time... usually if i don't minimize winamp it lags me just because i have the MMD3 winamp skin and it has animations on it, so if i don't minimize it i lag just a tiny bit.

i play tfc, watch tfc avis, and listen to music on itunes at the same time on my pentium 2

winamp 2.91 won't hog resources unless you're running like a pentium II with 32mb of ram.

I personally use winamp cause I'm a fan of winamp and have been for years.

However, I have heard that some people prefer foobar over winamp because of resource issues. The only time i've experienced any problems running winamp while gaming is when i used those elaborate winamp-modern skins.

Since I only use classic skins now, I dont have a problem.

However, I will say (since i've heard nothing but good things) that dont knock foobar. I hear it's pretty solid, too.

Just kinda comes down to preference and whatworks.

Whatever you do, dont use windows media player. That thing is garbage.

itunes plus everything works for me, even with dreamweaver 8/firefox/thunderbird in the background.
