View Full Version : What are your summer plans?

With so many of us finishing up finals, or at least coming close to, what are your plans for this summer? Travel? School and work? Personally, I just put the security deposit down on a house near my school, I'll be living with 3 friends, one of which is poly lol! I'll be focusing on moving into this house and customizing it out, I'm thinking about setting up a hookah bar in the garage, as I own a pretty nice one and am pretty handy with the wood if ya know what I mean.

What are your plans for this summer?!

edit: Lastly, have any of you ever purchased a keg shell and know what a reasonable price for one would be? + keg tap? Thanks.

First and foremost to stay out of jail and I'm not saying that to be funny. Two of us have records so being on probation we can't get popped for anything and most importantly we'd be worried about DIP. Cops don't pop you for that much down here but when you get blackout drunk and don't remember how you got home it might pose a problem and all 3 of us have done that. On the plus side one of my one rommates works downtown which is only a mile away as a bouncer. Downtown we have night life and the beach so I look forward to using sick time while playing hookie and heading to the beach. We get in to one of the bigger bars in downtown HB no problem and he also knows all the cops so it's easier for us to stay out of trouble. I'm in a similar situation as you except I'm already in my apartment with my 2 buddies and we've already decked the pad out. 42" plasma, new fridge, new couches, new patio furniture and we just added the finishing piece which will probably result in nothing but trouble, the kegerator.

Lastly and most importantly, to stay grounded and study. I'm done with school but I need to study for the CPA exam, the FAR section which I'll be taking in the coming months.

Is a keg shell the same as a kegerator? If so they aren't cheap. If you have costco in your area check them out. They carry them ($500 for just the kegerator) but the problem is if they aren't in stock you have to order it and they charge $158 for delivery and it takes 2-3 weeks. We could have gone that route but it was the same price minus the wait to get one from Mr. Keg which is a local beer place. For the kegerator (all parts) and our own keg with Sierra Nevada the damage was $900.

i had planned to continue classes at tech school, but they dont offer any classes for my degree so i am taking some graphic arts classes for fun (1 online, 1 weekly). i also just got a job delivering pizza. it sounds shitty, but including tips i end up with about 12-15 an hour and i get free food ;o

thats about it

None of us drive drunk. Part of it has to do with the fact we're a mile away from downtown and that a DUI isn't worth the trouble. The problem is waking up wondering how the hell you got home. Especially when you talk to your roommates and they say the same thing asking if you shared a cab home. Many people do this but you don't want to do it when you're on informal probation and it means jail time.

if you just want a shell, steal one. they're cheap. usually if you buy a keg, you'll put a $20 deposit down on the shell and depending on where you go a $25-40 deposit on the tap. you can get a tap for $25 though. keep in mind, locations will change. this is all in athens, georgia. but i know for a fact it is extremely easy to steal a shell. we used to have 3, but we have since loaned them out and forgot who has what.

i'm going on a cruise to the bahamas and taking summer classes this summer. i leave thursday for the cruise.

and suicidal, the shell itself is just what the beer comes in heh. it's not a keggerator.

i get my own one hour rock show.

Since I am a teacher, the summer is basically do nothing time for me. However, the wife is the director at the local rock station so she needed somebody to play rock music for an hour. It will own all.

I am also moving, going to Costa Rico, and Bonarro

Ah thanks for clarifying, never heard it called a shell. In this case you can get one in the $15-25$ range then like you said. At grocery stores if you go to get a keg here it costs $15 for the keg deposit and $20-25 for the tap. If you don't return the keg, no $15 deposit back.

I'm working. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. 7-6 every fucking day. Summer is no different other than the fact that you go to the beach on the weekends, have more drunken barbecues, etc.

Enjoy being kids as long as you can.

Starting Tuesday I'm doing this 2 week Gateway to Dentistry program at UMDNJ. I'll be staying at my cousin's house because they live closer to Newark than I do, and I can avoid more of the rush hour traffic. I'll also be studying for the DAT those 2 weeks (Dental Admissions Test). Then I'm taking the DAT on June 13.

After that I might have to drive up to Boston for a couple days because I may be subletting my house up there to my mom's friend's daughter and her friend. Then after that I'll be working back at good old Wegmans supermarket as a bread baker. I'll do that Fri, Sat, and Sun from about 8-4:30 or some 8 hour shift, whatever I get. Tues and Wed I'll be shadowing my dentist for about 3 hours each day. Thurs I hope to shadow my orthodontist for about 3 hours.

All that while I continue to work on my dental school applications (I'll be a senior next school year).

That should last the rest of the summer.
