Mouth pains...

Has anyone here ever had pains on the back of the tongue (near where the large tastebuds are)?

Starting yesterday I began to be sore there and have also had a pain (seems to be on a muscle) on the underside of my jaw. It doesn't really hurt unless I am normally just swallowing my saliva or sometimes after a drink of water. I am wondering if anyone has ever had a similar problem and if they did what they did to help fight it. I have finals next week and I hope it isn't anything serious :o

I've gotten muscle pains in my neck before if I slept wrong or twisted it. Usually goes away by itself after 2-3 days. I don't know exactly where you're hurting so I couldn't tell you.

Could be sore throat or something? I had a sore throat once that was so sore I went to the Dr. to get some painkillers (was given vicodin & antibiotics) so that I could finally eat & drink as I was getting so dehyrdated because it hurt like a motherfucker (like someone stabbing me in the back of the throat with a knife) whenever I swallowed. It was so swollen they were talking about surgery to get it to go away. Thankfully the antibiotics started to kick in and a day and a half later it started to go away. But this is after laying around the house for 3 days getting progressively worse to the point where I wouldn't swallow anything because it hurt so bad.

I will take a look into that, it might just be that MM. I will call of of work today and see if I can get in to go see my doctor about it.

But if I showed you a picture of the canker sore I have right now I think you'd throw up. Seriously probably the worst I've ever had...and it couldn't be in a more inconvienent place.

I'm going to start a foundation. "END CANKER SORES NOW" Will anyone donate to my research? We must stop it.

my throat hurts so much right now, basically what mm said. feels like im getting stabbed on the right side of my throat when i try to swallow. i refuse to eat or drink, i cant swallow my own saliva, i've been spitting it out every few minutes because it hurts less to do so. its starting to hurt to talk or open my mouth too. i set up an appointment at a doctor leaving for it in about 15 minutes.

i was just on the cats to look over a thread i read about mono a year ago. im scared cuz i have all the same symptoms, its been 3 days now. i really dont want to stay at home for a month during the summer, im scared im gonna lose alot of weight too. at least its not during the school year i suppose.

[edit on prognosis: arg gonna have to get my tonsils out, i got tonsilitis.. worst thing is i gotta wait 10 days to see if the meds they gave me help at all. i dunno how much more of this i can take.]

I was afraid of tonsilitis with mine, but my tonsils aren't enflamed or anything so I don't think that it is it. I did try taking Stacker3 a couple days ago (around the same time that my throat started hurting) I can't remember which one started before the other though. Maybe it is my body's natural reaction to one of the ingredients of Stacker3. I will wait til after this weekend to see if it goes away (I have stopped taking Stacker for the time being).

well, turns out I think I have tonsilitis. I got up from a nap and looked in the mirror, I had a couple white splotches on the back of my mouth and it was sore as hell.

most of my pains coming from a peritonsillar abscess that i got due to the tonsillitis, its giving me a bad fever and earaches but the main pain is in the right side of my throat. i cant swallow at all, hurts so bad my body wont let me. im drooling everywhere, im scared of falling asleep and drowning. so tired, hungry, and thirsty, never been in such a sorry state before =[

If your family doctor or general practicioner is kinda wishy-washy, skip the middleman and just go straight to an Otolaryngologist (Ear, Nose, Throat doctor).

after going to the dr I was diagnosed with Pharyngitis (sp?) just gotta take some antibiotics for 5 days then all should be well.

Had it just a couple months ago. I had a freaking spit cup cause it was drooling so much... Although I had it because of strep apparently. freaking sucked and I lost 10lbs in a week. and the earache was definately the worst of it though. codeine saved my life.

yea i got the cup thing going on too, the doc said what i got is way worse then strep. heh sorry if i sound like this is a contest, im not trying to win the 'im in most pain award'
