Ok, so I am staying at a friends place for the summer and they have wireless, but its encrypted. They also don't have they key any where but stored on their computer. Since t won't reveal the key to me on the wireless utility when I check it out on their computer, I cannot find out what it is. So, is there a way for me to figure it out with their computer, or is there an easy way to "hack" it?

They don't know what it is?

I would just change the key, and then update all their computers with the new key.

Dont you need the old key to change it? There might be a way to reset the router to brand new, but i'm not 100% sure.

You don't need the old key to change it, but you do need the administration password to log into the router. If they have never messed with it, then the username should be blank or admin, and the password just password. Otherwise, there should be a factory reset button on the back that you probably have to use a pin to hit, but that should revert it back and you can go from there.

AH the admin password is what i'm thinking.. I had a job where this guy had some techs set up his wireless and when he wanted some desktops wireless, i couldn't get into the router because they never told him the admin password into the router. I never found a way around it other then buying a new router...

WOW, what kind of router was it? So I never buy it. Both my wireless routers have a reset on it and holding it in for 5- 10 seconds will restart the router as new. admin pass set to admin (or whatever the hell it is) and I just need to reset everything.

Linksys router, I tried to reset it and still didn't let me in with the defult passes. I even brought it to my house and reset it, yet it still told me to fuck off..
