lately i've been hearing some strange sounds coming outta my mobo. the sound is really strange and "electricky" (no other way to describe it), it only goes away when i turn the PSU off. i'm thinking something might have short circuited? But everything runs fine...i really have no clue what to do. i'm getting paranoid that one day the comp will catch on fire. any suggestions that do not require me to get a new mobo is welcome, i cant afford a new one just yet.
dunno if this might help, specs:
DFI Ultra-D
Antec Sonata II with the stock PSU
AMD64 3500+
2 x 1 gig kingston valueram
edit: always turing my PSU off while i'm not using the comp is asking for trouble rite? but i dont want my house to burn down. :(

Not a solution, but a suggestion as to what might be wrong. Try to narrow it down by taking everything out of the case, then readding things one at a time.
Hook up the moniter to the onboard instead of the vid card, have 1 stick of ram in and then go into the bios and wait and see if it happens. If nothing happens, put the other stick of ram in. Try putting the ram into different slots, and go back into the bios, wait, then add more stuff in.
Make sure that everything is in place and is secure.
When you turn the pc on, is there any beeping?? Is the sound coming from the mobo or your speakers?? If speakers, move the speakers away from the moniter some.

sounds like a bad onboard speaker.. i have also had electrolytic capacitors on the motherboard do wierd humming sounds too.. best way is to turn the unit on and to put your hand inside and on the components of the motherboard while it is on.. make sure your hands are dry and that your other hand is shorted out to the case so you don't zap something.. this is like putting a screwdriver to the heads of your car to listen for tappets..
just feel around and when the sound changes, then you are close to your culprit. troubleshoot accordingly once found.. even had the wierd fan or two do this, even had a floppy disk one time doing the 'wierd electronic sound' shit..

it's usually an HD being loud or fans spinning badly when you hear sounds.

ok, so i tried touching the parts of the mobo, nothing changed the sound, but the sound was loudest by that little light.
