I recently bought 16x media but it wouldn't run on my 8x burner. I always thought that the media was able to burn slower if needed.
anyway.that media just said "16x" and since then I've seen ones that say they'll burn at 1-16x. does that mean that those ones WILL burn at 4-8x? or does that mean that you can set them to burn slower on your 16x capable burner if you want?
I didn't want to buy another set of duds.

Maybe your burner can't burn DVD-R's. Maybe it can only burn DVD+R, DVD+/-RW. It's the problem I had.

they do burn DVD-R. I've done it with 4x before.
I found a store that sold 8x and bought those and they work..they were just harder to find.

are you using nero?
try setting your burner to burn at 8x, not at maximum speed. it would also be good to select determine maximum speed before burning for best results

yea I was using that.
the speed settings were messed up. the max speed was at 4.1x (which was some kind of error.)
I tried burning at all the speed options but always got the same error. I've since brought those discs back..I think I'll just be getting 4-8x from now on.
