So I move to my new house in Phoenix, and I start up my computer, and an error appears:

"Your radeon 9800 is not properly connected to the power extension cable."

Ok, so I call dell like 3 different times, finally get someone that speaks english on the 3rd try, I get that fixed. But now, TFC freezes, EQ2 freezes, hell even limewire froze my computer just earlier today.

I uninstalled the drivers from the ati site - they had a catalyst uninstaller.

Last night I tried installing the driver updates from the ati site - they were released on 6/26/06 - go figure. I restart the computer like it says to to finish installation, and the screen is just black, windows will not show up. Great.

Before all this happened, I installed an ati update from the windowsupdate site - and my computer would crash after this - so I did a PC Restore, and now all this shit is happening.

I try installing the catalyst 5.5 drivers - screen is black. Now, all I have is the radeon 9800 in there. I uninstalled the drivers, restarted my computer, windows found my video card, and the screen is all choppy, nothing is working when I try to start it up(video games). TFC still freezes, EQ2 still freezes, limewire works, but it's just a pain in the ass.

Any suggestions?

check to see if your fan is working. touch the card is it hotter then hell?
I had this problem until i found out my fan was dead on my card. Bought one of those super cool fans for 15 bux online and it was fixed.

ya too me sounds like a heating issue ...
i know its annoying to hear cause i've been there but stay away from Dell.. its evil.
one of the major problems being shit constantly comes loose in the case. The components are just held in place with plastic... this might be your problem too.

of course you void your warrantly by opening the case.

make sure you're aware of the implications of that before you decide what to do

Try calling ATI next time if you're having a problem with your ATI product.

Are you 100% sure that everything is seated properly? go inside and push everything to make sure it is sitting correctly in its slot.
