Biostar 6800XT (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814141026)

XFX 6800XT (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814150157)

I'm buying for my girlfriend, I know a fairly good amount about parts and i just wanted to get a few quick comments by you guys. Tell me, Which would be better for gaming?

Her Specs:

PC Chips Socket 478 agp 8x
1gb of DDR400
80gb hd
2.5ghz "celeron"
9700pro 128

BTW, i'm leaning towards the 6600GT right now

Seems like severe overkill on a system like that.

I gotta agree with nine, get the cheapest of the bunch.

Well, you guys think it will bottleneck? If i put a new card in, and still get shit FPS I am going to buy a new mobo/processor (prolly semperon). I don't want a cheaper end card that can't run CSS very well for the future. So I'd gladly spend the extra money right now for a "better" card.

ATI has X850's on their site for $139, faster than a 6600gt. I don't know how they compare to the 6800's though.

I refuse to buy ATI video cards because i have gone through 3 of them and all of them were shit. I'd rather stick with Nvidia on this one, Thanks for the comment dave :D

I own ATI and nVidia, both work as expected. I lean toward ATI because their marketing offends me a little less than nVidia's does. Other than that, the cards are so close to the same as not to matter.
By the same I mean performance/price. Some people claim that one or the other is a tad faster or looks better, but the way I see it, if you need benchmarks to be able to tell, it doesn't matter.

ATI Drivers are aweful. I never find any that work right. Nvidia is a "user friendly" company when it comes to the drivers, thats why i use them.

ATI drivers are leaps and bounds above what they used to be.

true, but they still come with their fair share of problems. I went from an nVidia TI4400 to a 9800pro and back to nVidia. I can't believe how much better and more stable these cards are.

i agree with janus. ati drivers annoy me to no end. as to your question i hear that the 6600GT is similiar to a 6800XT, i believe. i might be getting this confused tho, someone stop me if im wrong. i also really like XFX as a company, good customer service.

I ordered a Gigabyte 6600GT 128 last Friday. I did that because i used to have the exact same card only in PCI-E and it worked great for CSS and such. Thanks for all of the input :D

Yeah, That's why i chose the 6600 series card. I had one and it was awesome. You simply cant beat the performance for the price. oh yeah, the drivers rock ATI's balls.
