Okay, I don't know what the fuck is up with my router but it keeps disconnecting from my computer. I have to keep resetting the router for it to connect again. Usually this happens when I have 2 or more torrents on, it's like it overloaded or something and it kills my connection. Even though the cable modem shows that it is connect to the 'net, it's not going through mine and I have to keep fuckin' resetting it every fucking time. It's really fucking annoying. So any help would be really appreciated.
I have a Linksys BEFSR41 model.

one of two things..
reflash the bios of the router.. and if this doesn't fix it, then..
take it back and get a new one..

Yeah... filtering websites on our work router (to block people from myspace and the like) causes it to just stop working. Like, if someone goes to a site that's blocked (or an ad from a host that's blocked pops up) it'll kill the router. The only way to "fix" it (so people can get back online, heh) is to wait it out. So annoying. Then, people are wondering "why's the server down?!?!?!". Sigh.

Why not just use the server to filter out the content they can see/use? Kinda like what public schools use?

How do I reflash the router?
I have had this router for a couple of years and it's been great until the last past 6 months it's been acting like that.
I think it may be time to buy a new one...

reflashing it is easy.. go to the company website for the router, linksys or whoeever it is that makes it...
go to the downloads area and download the newest flash for your router.. if you have had it for several years, then you for sure need to flash it with the newest operating system..
once you get the program, just run it from your computer with the router hooked up normally.. the program will seek out the router and flash it remotely...
or, if the program doesn't work that way, logon to the router as administrator remotely, 192.168.0.1 or .0.2, or whatever it is.. then, go into the utility and use the remote utility built in the flash the bios..

I don't see any new flash, or any type of flash for my modem. The only thing I see is firmware and to upgrade it. I can't upgrade any of the latest firmware because I will get kicked out after joniing tfc, dod, basically any steam games.

but I did re-upgrade my firmware from the version in steampowered.com. I don't know if that's what you meant by reflashing my router.

If flashing it to the newest firmware didn't help here are a few more things to try.
- Turning off the UPnP (in the client and in the router) and doing manual port forwarding.
- Restricting the number of global connections to 200 or less (may need to go below 100, depending on the router).
- Turn off DHT
I have a d-link router and I had to set my conenctions to less than 100 to make it quit restarting.

We don't have a server. That's why their comment is so laughable. The other thing I hate, is when our email host goes down and they say the Internet is down... but it's not. The email host is down; everything else works fine you idiots.
