Hi guys, hopefully someone can help me out. I've been trying to fix this for hours and still nothing. My problem is that I can't connect on AOL Instant Messenger. I have a feeling it has to do with either my router(linksys) and/or firewalls. What I did so far was disable the routers firewall. I'm on Win98. It's old, I know. Anyways, any help is appreciated. Thanks guys!

From AIM's FAQS:

If you don't need a proxy server, but default port 5190 doesn't work, then just change it to 80 or some other popular port number from the Setup->Connect in Sign on window.

I have tried that and it didn't work. Thanks though!

okay when you say "can't connect on aim" do you mean you can't connect TO aim? or you can't direct connect with people?

also, where exactly does the problem occur?

I can't connect to AIM(says "AIM service can't be reached". when I try to connect) and I can't access my email account so I'm guessing that I can't view secured websites. I'm connected through a router. My computer runs on Win98 while the other is WinXP. I don't know exactly where this problem is occuring but I'm thinking it has something to do with the firewall. I disabled the routers and internets firewall and still nothing. Unless theres another one I don't know about. Heh. Thanks.
