I read a very interesting article yesterday in the newest edition of the Economist. When i have some free time, ill type out some segments of the article and post it here for those who want to read it. The article was examining the idea of a proportional response. As in, how do you measure it, is it a viable option, etc. It was some great food for thought, and i was curious as to what everyone thought about this subject, as im sure opinions are divided.
There are many figures saying that Israel's actions are completely out of proportion to the situation. Now, while i might not condone the actions of the Israelis, my problem lies with the effectiveness of the action, not the principle surrounding it. Just trying to start some discussion on the idea of proportioned response here. My view has been that if you choose to kick a tiger in the ass, you better be fully prepared to deal with his teeth. All of them.

If you look back over the last fifty or sixty years, there are many countries we had good reason to blast into smithereens. Ironically, these are the countries causing problems today.

proportional response?
This sounds like more "official" jargon used to cover up the deaths of countless people. Kinda like collateral damage.

Proportional response means that in WW2 we would have just sunk the Japanese fleet, and hunted down the German subs...
But instead, we killed as many of them as we could until they surrendered.

I think Israel is justified in any military action they take, no matter how much collateral damage (see: civilian deaths) they cause, as long as Hezbollah persists in concentrating their efforts solely on firing rockets at civilians, which is what they're doing.
