Yes, this is about the anti-jewish statements he made while he was drunk a while back and it's a "welcome to last week" thread. But I'm actually curious about whether or not people care about this after seeing and hearing comments here and there since then.
Simple question. Do you honestly care about the comments Mel Gibson made and think people should stop supporting his movies because of it?
The media, of course, blew this story up as big as possible. I even lost all respect for the newly named Donnie "Douchebag" Deutsch when he had an entire show dedicated to it and talking about how no one should ever watch another Mel Gibson movie again. But I'm bringing this up now is because I just blew that all off and said no one friggin cares; he was drunk. Are you going to tell me you've never done something stupid while you were drunk?
Yet even now I'm still hearing comments about it and I'm pretty surprised. The argument I keep hearing is that while you're drunk you just say and do things that you really feel and believe. He got drunk and said all of that stuff so obviously he hates all jews and truly believes everything he said and he's a jerk and blah blah blah.
I buy that to an extent, but this is ridiculous in my opinion and I'll close my opinion with an example. A morning radio show here in Phoenix has a Freak of the Day segment. A couple of weeks ago they explained some man in his 50's or 60's (in Sweden or some other country) got really drunk out in public. He strolls up to an ATM and withdrawls $16,000 in cash from his checking account. He then proceeds to pass out money and toss the cash around. The police show up, hold onto the rest of his money (he gave/threw away about $1,000) and tell him to come back when he's sober. He came back later and, of course, he regrets the whole darn thing.
So those of you that agree with the argument I mentioned please tell me; is the man in the story I told just really charitable? Apparently, he just really loves to help others and couldn't work up the courage to do it until he got wasted.
You don't have to actually argue with me. If you disagree with me you can just say so, but I'm really curious why, especially in today's age, you'd be so offended by (what I consider to be) the ramblings of a drunk dude.
