so i bought a powerbook for college, and i need to transfer my 10 GBs of songs from my ipod to my mac.
the dilemma is, my ipod is PC formatted, and i only have about 1/3 of the songs on my ipod on my pc. now i could use copypod or something to get all 10 gigs on the pc, but i dont know if that will help, because i still have to get them to the mac somehow. i cant use my external hard drive, because i would have to reformat it and i would lose the songs. i dont know if i can just put the ipod in the mac and use copy pod, but the ipod is pc formatted and i THINK you cant raelly do anything with it on a mac unless its mac formatted which would delete everything
is there a solution to this problem?

^ adorable and true. any mac made in past few years beats any pc laptop by miles. anyone who works in the computer business knows it.

too bad they charge boatloads for it and will be relegated to their ~5% market share because of that. other comp manufacturers are making up ground on them too in performance computing (high end vid stuff, etc).

and now since they use intel cpus they can't make up mystery stats based on the magic of the pooooooooooooower mac processor.

i love my mac, i don't understand the hate tbh. it's a lot easier then any pc i've ever worked on.

yea now they use intel chips and still work fine, better then ever.
and they only charge boatloads because its a good value. the worst mac bottom of the line on the market is still better then 85% of pc's
sure its not always sensible but if you have money theres no reason you shouldnt go for the better value

Macs are a big pile of shit.. who in their right mind would think that macs with all of their 10 runnable programs can compare to a pc?

i have, my roommate has one of the new ones, its noticable faster then powerpc.
and mac's no longer have "10 runnable programs" id rather be able to do the media stuff i want, and not have my computer come with fucking 20 demo softwares that expire in 30 days and have spyware in them, like any non-generic pc you buy.
sure, macs sucked and were unstable back in the days, but they are quite far ahead now.

Hey, I liked being able to tell my friends that my 733 PowerPC processor was *technically* faster than their 733 P3 back in the day...because you know...it uses a different standard...blah blah blah, insert witty mac comment here.
But then I discovered the world of online gaming...and I now have 4 macs sitting on shelves in my garage.

Quit speaking from your asshole. They are not sensibly priced, and they are not better than pc's. The only reason that the mac may have the illusion that it is better is for one reason and only one reason. Since apple and only apple specify what hardware goes into the computers, they can tailor their OS to work perfectly with only a few varying kinds of setups. In the PC world, you can have all sorts of different types of hardware from all sorts of different vendors, and naturally, some things just dont work well together.

Simply put, Macs are for 2 groups on the food chain: People who need an incredibly stable computer for whatever reason (movie editing, music making apps etc), or people who are too fucking lazy to learn anything about PCs. Oh, and you can say I'm talking out my ass if you want, but I've got 'someone on the inside' with mac: My father has been working tech support for Mac at the local call center for the past 5 months, so if anyone has ever had to call Mac tech support chances are you were talking to him. He's got 3 macs on his desk of differing models, so that he can trouble shoot issues when people call in regardless of the computer they have. Ironically enough, my brother works for Dell tech support at the same call center, and my father's previous job at the same place was Windows XP tech support, and Windows Security tech support (spyware and virus removal) before that. So, I'd take his word over anyones when it comes to Macs, he knows his shit.

Each time they told me different reasons for the same symptoms, each time they were wrong. They all made up stories and shit. Pretty typical tech support.. just saying they're nothing to brag about.
Oh btw, Macs come with demo software too.

Firstly, you have to understand what I said earlier pertaining to the great diversity in hardware configurations in PC's vs that of Mac's. Second, you have to realize that the reason why there are so many more viruses and other such malware for the PC in comparison to the Mac is because of the fact that the PC has such a great market share. For instance, say you wanted to build a virus that would steal peoples passwords. YOu wanted this to be spreadable through the internet. You would have to be incredibly stupid to build it for a Mac since the vast majority of people on the net use Windows. A mac's seeming immunity to viruses has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with how the OS was made, or the hardware within it.

Everyone sane knows that those mac vs pc commercials are bullshit anyway. Even if you're a mac fag. I mean fan.

hey guys, lets make our disc drives only open through software! And then we can eliminate any possible way to get a disc out short of opening up the case and removing the drive completely should the system not recognize it a disc! Oh the fun we will have.
true story from work.

Minus the fact that there are ridiculous problems with the intel chips and some software. At an old job we got a few new imacs with intel chips and all Adobe products would crash constantly since the software was (is still?) running in emulation for the intel hardware. That was fun.
