Stayne

Greetings.
Over 4 years ago I happened into a pub server that was always full, was fun to play in, and had a lot of really crappy players that made me look good. It was the *AKA* TFC public server. I was approached by some guys wearing the -=BT=- tag who told me how amazing I was at soldier (I sucked and still suck terribly, but they made me feel good) and that I needed to join thier clan. I was reluctant due to my limited schedule, but finally agreed.
A few months and a divorce later, I was actually able to start playing with the clan with the longest fucking tag ever. *AKA*Stayne-=BT=-. I didn't know bhop, quick-switch, scripting, customization, or really anything. Didn't really matter, I suppose. After about 6 months of my active status in the clan, the reigns were essentially turned over to me. Both previous leaders had played hot potato with the job and it landed in my lap.
At the time we were a TFL 9v9-only clan. Yet, we still had 2 two-hour practices each week in addition to the hour warmup before matches. TFC was serious business. It didn't take too long for us to string together enough wins to pull out of 4a and actually score us a 3a Title

Soon after my tenure as leader began, things went sour with *AKA* leadership. They tried to micromanage -=BT=-, and I just wanted to do what I thought was best. Turns out, what was best was to ditch *AKA*. They said we couldn't keep the name -=BT=-, so, after a bit of brainstorming and deliberation we came up with -459|AbsoluteZero. Not too much later we went on to get our next Title:

And so, with our core of 4a players from *AKA* and a few we picked up from CnN along the way, We stormed our way into 1a... just to get raped in the ear. But, with a few new recruits (e.g., MastaMan from CS, Quik from SoL) we managed to hold on there for a while. We eventually joined STA 9v9 with the rest of the community. Things were good for a long time. New recruits filling in where original members had to step back.
But, like all good things, even this had to end. Real life has a way of getting in the way of the things we enjoy. Our only hope is enjoy real life. With so many time conflicts in my and so many other clan-mate's lives, I feel it is time to let -459 close its doors as I retire from competitive TFC.
I'll still be around the academy and cesspool, forwarding conspiracy theories, ripping on nitwits, and correcting the misuse of english terms. But I will be taking a break from league play while I figure out if I have any time to continue this hobby.
Special thanks to my friends. I've made a lot of great acquaintances through this game and community. I've also met a lot of douchebags who will ridicule you one second, then be the nicest guys in the world when they need something from you. But, thanks to you all for being a part on this experience.

First avi: http://www.team-459.com/videos/-459_2ndPlace.zip
Ugly as hell but has a few cool shots.
Second avi: http://www.team-459.com/videos/canalpwn_stayne.zip
Also here: http://www.gamingmp.com/movie.php?mid=479
Less ugly, but still not that great. All Command Point footage.
Third avi: http://members.handheldmedia.net/tys/-459_AbsoluteZero.avi
Easily the best of the three.
Finally, my maps: http://www.team-459.com/stayne/
Thus ends my TFC clan leadership. From 5-01-2003 to 8-24-2006.
