Don't know if they have what you're looking for but I'd suggest checking the site out. Click dell deals at the top and they have coupon codes that give you a percent off of various dell laptops and the deals change each week. I got a very basic dell laptop using a coupon from there and total with getting it delivered was like $350. Obviously it's not what you're looking for but they did have coupons for the higher end models on there then and it looks like they do right now too.

Don't get a MacBook if you need it for school. The parts are all backordered so badly because all of them are fucked up. If you have a problem it will take a long time to get it fixed in other words.

Besides, you can't afford a Mac.

There are some decent laptop threads in the tech center.
If you ask about the camera in the art gallery.. I'm sure someone there will recommend 10 different cameras that cost $200 more than what you want to spend, but it's worth a try.

ok, ive been recently studying all the laptops available on the market, and to get a decent one, thats not too expensive, but supports what your looking for (similar to my needs), a 15.4 inch laptop is pretty much your only bet, to get a 17inch laptop for 1100 or less, it would be a really stripped down one that had no videocard at all. so here is what ive came to the conclusion of. for some odd reason, dell small buisness computers seem to be notoriously cheaper than their home computers, and they are basically identical in looks, and components.

ok so basically the only thing that i changed from the norm, is i upgraded the CPU, added a reinstallation disk, changed the video card to the x1400(yes its better than the geforce but dont ask my why its cheaper) and to top it off, i upgraded the battery to the 85whr battery. and the price comes out to $1,080 roughly. seems to be the best deal i can find, that includes that CPU, a gig of ram, 120gb harddrive, and a decent video card for the price. so tell me what you think?

Not sure which model would be in your price range Mike but Toshiba makes the best fuckin laptops ever.

As far as cameras... it depends on what yer using it for. My olympus old and bulky but serves the purpose of takin a few shots every 2 months or so. If you wanna do some real nice photography go with a real nice nikon.

the one with the mostest!!!!! because the advertising tells us so.

To double the printable size of one camera you have to quintuple it's resolution (some crazy shit like that)

To be honest, it's not the amount of mp, but the quality of the mp that are captured. For instance the original 1D can make splendid enlargements at very low mp, whereas I see people print shit from their ubersmall-compact-eleet- point and shoot at 6-8 mp (almost double the 1D) and they struggle to make good 5x7's because anything over iso 200 sucks, and they use the digital zoom crap.

find something you're interested in, and then read reviews.

I just recently got a laptop, and it's awesome. I get around 100-180fps in source and it's twice as fast as my old computer.

Heres basically what I got minus a few changes;
