I couldnt help notice that Pubbing late at night.... No longer Exists...

I couldnt sleep and it was near 5 am on a monday night, i hit the refresh button for servers and couldnt find one server with more than 3 people in it that did not have a majority of bots as the bodies filling the server. This is a sad notation. I miss the olden days when you could find hundreds of servers cramed for all hours of the day :(

I refreshed the Counter-Strike:Source server list yesterday, just out of curiosity, and it found over 18,000 servers. Tis a sad, sad time we're going through.

Yes it is. I wonder why this happened? I used to love playing. That is until the leagues limited the amount of time I can play and what teams i can/cannot play for. Once they did that, I got bored and just said the hell with it. Pubbing was useless to me if I cannot play for different clans throughout the week.

I was up a few nights ago at 4 a.m. and about 9/10 servers had mostly bots in them. I don't understand the thing with putting bots in your server. Even when I refresh in the daytime its hard to find a good rock2, avanti, or well server. :confused:

We all know that this game has been declining over the last 7 years of its existence and CS will always be bigger.. I actually noticed a surge in playing the past month or two, perhaps from FF and TF2 hype? Maybe that one night was a bust for you, but i play late night tfc all the time and i can almost always find a good server with people on it. During the day there are still plenty.

Also ive found that some of those idiots that put bots on their server arent so bad sometimes. if you pick one that only has like 4 bots and the rest people you can usually ask them to kick the bots, and about 50% of the time theres an admin and they actually do it.

I hate the "this game is old" theory, because counterstrike is just AS old (came out in 2000, just after tfc). Yet theres still fuckin 140,000 people playing this game at the same time all day long!

Valve went out of their way to ensure all WON CS players knew about Steam. It gave you a message every time you joined a server. Not TFC though. I bet there are hundreds or thousands of people pissed off because their server list won't update on their old HL copy lol.

Tfc is old but still, about a year ago i could find servers filled to the brim with people late at night... The games old, but until recently it was drawling in new players and bodies to fill the empty spaces. Now the only thing left is aliased hackers coming in "Newly".



What im saying is its a drag that their are not more people playing this game, Cs still draws new people to it daily. Its ashame we cant.

it does happen, however -no one- wants to show new players the ropes and what kind of behavior is expected from them from leagues. i can count about 2 dozen brand new players that are improving fast but don't know of any community's existence in this game, and another dozen people who tried joining leagues but didn't like the demeanor of some of the idiots who participate in them, or some of the dumbass rules in place.

so they never figure out there's a huge nucleus of people who all play in the same irc channel and on the same nights at the same times, because they're "outsiders".

for your own entertainment, next time a new guy is in #tfc.gather.us, keep a tally on how many people toss insults and how many people actually talk to and help that person.

I am always trying to help new players out, Pubs are where most (If not all) of us started from, unfourtunately most of those pubbers don't want to play competitive TFC.

There are plenty of late night servers to play in, it just depends on what level of gameplay you wish to play it.

I'm able to find a server late at night without a problem. You guys probably just aren't looking hard enough. Or if you find one, you probably don't go in because you either don't recognize any of the people playing or don't like the map that it is on. If you get over that shit there's still servers you can play. If I didn't have to work early the next day I would stay up playing all night ( I usually stop playing around midnight).

The only server i know i can usually go on at almost any time, any day during the week that i know will USUALLY have people in it, is The twisted network dustbowl only. The admins won't bitch you out unless you do something really stupid, like flag hold or something, because there aren't that many rules to break on dustbowl really...

You have to carry a certain amount of respect when you play in someones public server. Some people, like ODAY, seem to lack that and expect everything in a pub to be geared towards their style of play (maps, rules, admins). That's not what pubbing should be.

I pub on many different servers and all I do is not act like a jackass. I've never had a problem with an admin, never had a dispute over the rules, and I've never seen an admin truly abusing his power (gasp). On many servers I don't even follow the rules (no bhop), but because I keep my mouth shut and just have fun playing tfc with what they give me, nothing happens. When it stops being fun, I leave the server and go to another.

I've played on Dark Realm extensively and have never had a problem. All you need is a little sense of respect and you too can avoid becoming one of those elitist fags who feel their cock buldge every time they get banned.

EDIT: On a side note it is a lot harder to find servers late night but it's possible: there are usually one or two botless servers that can keep you entertained. As for me I usually end up concing at hi's conc server.

this is what TWISTED's dustbowl and 2fort/well servers are made for. There are people in them 75% of the day and it's spamalicious newbie shit that I love. My brother in law just started playing, so if you see some newbie with rkfan474 as his alias, help him out or something, he's pathetic.

I consider 2 AM max for late night, and usually there are people on at that time. But 5 AM is a very late, or early.
