So, I've been thinking about a pet recently... I needed something small, pretty easy to take care of, but still a good pet. Never liked hamsters or gerbils.. But now I've came across the hedgehog, and have done alot of research and they sound pretty awesome... playful, can be litter trained, dont smell, etc... So my question is, does anyone have/has had a hedgehog as a pet? How is it? I just need imformation from personal experiences.

sounds cool but keep in mind a hedgehog is a more serious commitment than a hamster or gerbil. you need more money, more space, and you need to worry about its well-being more.

friend had one, he kept it in a pretty big cage. he let it out and it ran around his house. they're super fuckin fast, really cute too and awesome to pet. dont rememeber him having any problems with it really ill ask him though.
getting a couple of ferrets instead is cooler imo. a couple of friends have 2 and they dont even keep them in a cage, they run around the apartment and sleep in a drawer, they trained them to poop in a cat litter box too.

my friend had a hedgehog named sonic. he also has like 20 other pets, but anyways. his hedgehog was pretty sweet, he kept it in a cage about 4x2.5 feet.
its fun to play with, just gotta get a thick glove, until it/you get used to the other.

i also agree with a chinchilla. had one several years ago and it was the coolest pet ever. would chill on my shoulder as i moved about the house. very clean animal as well, didnt stink at all unless i failed to regularly clean the cage.

I had one several years ago. Liked mentioned you'll need more money, space to take care of these compared to a rodent. They also require a lot of attention but overall they're very good pets.

my friend had like 3 hedgehogs and they were all really jumpy, would just roll into a ball when you came close. i think he ended up giving them to a spca or something. doesnt sound like that is the case with all of them though.

Rats make some of the most loving amazing pets. The only problem is they have a short life span. So you get all attached to them then a handful of years later they die.
