why do 99% of people throw an ammobag out whenever they can? (usually in respawn) who iz ksharpos?

its so that if someone kills you, they cant get ammo from you.

also it prevents damage from emps if an engy emps you.

I do it out of habit now. Then when an engy is like, "gimme bags" I feel guilty.

when i play engy, i have my normal discard key bound to build/det dispenser. yeah i've detted that thing more than a few times b/c i'm so used to discarding.

i hate it when i play engy and my team discards by the spawn, it's so pointless, unless of course they're gay and are running o engy

bind the discard with your forward key in your medic,spy,scout configs. set it and forget it!

I discard bags on offense because it makes me lighter when I don't have to carry around all that extra weight. This allows me to get more distance on each jump, which improves my bhop. It also allows for more height when concussion jumping, or when launching off miscellaneous explosions that I encounter on my trips toward the enemy flag.
The reverse is true on defense, I try not to discard my bag so that I am more sturdy and less susceptible to being bounced around by enemy concs and grenades. Also, sometimes I will throw my bags at incoming enemy offense, to try and trip them up.

(actually edy had it right, it's to minimize EMP damage and so they can't pick up ammo after killing you)

i have this:

bind "TAB" "timeleft; stopsound; flaginfo; room_type 0"
bind mwheelup "dropitems; discard"

added the stopsound and room_type 0 for those weird things that happen in maps like vidar2 & darkness

u can really see how much i honestly hit that shit if you watch one of my demos on demogarage, some people have asked me if i had a script that showed timeleft every 5 seconds or something.

it's best to drop 4 bags. the first two aren't all the powerful but the second two are rockets, so they make the best emp bomb.

32players * 3bags = 96 bags + 1 emp = cool.

p.s. you can shoot through the bags because in RL bullets can go through... i dunno... car doors? i think they could handle a green backpack. :D

By the way I dont think you can drop that many bags lol - the server will start clearing em out before you reach that amount, dont know that for a fact, thats just what I think

or set the pyro limit to unlimited and have them all cramp in 1 room then throw an emp or 2 in.

uhhh yeah? the first two you throw out as an engi are cells, the next two are rockets. 1 bag of cells and 2 bags of rockets make for a much bigger emp.

some gump would probably steal all the bags before we reached 96.

rockets go through the bags too.

It's really about the EMP 0wn4g3 you will recieve if you DON'T throw your ammo bag.

Throw the damn thing near to the spot that the engi needs it too. FFS, it's the little things that can go a long way in teamwork.
