I have this urge to remake 2fort for something to do, anyone want to give me some ideas on what to change/add/remove/etc

I dont know, 2fort is a pretty perfect map, seems very well balanced for 8v8.

However since you want to change things, I would say a wider spiral and make the 'bottom ele respawn' a little farther away from the elevator itself so that soldiers down there dont whore it even while they are fighting ;0

If you remake 2fort, it's either the same old 2fort or it isn't. It'd be cool to remove the bridge and have the offense either swim, or conc / rjump / nadejump across to the other base.

lol ya i was going to make the spiral wider, the respawn a little farther away, make the rr a little bigger (ceiling and ramps), and the ceiling in the basement higher.

i think its been done too many times, and none were as organized/balanced as the original...i say just make a new map altogether :P

In the spawns make the bags, health and armour the same as they are in the map SKF40 (http://planetfortress.com/sa/mulchman/skf40.zip). I like the idea of the basement in SKF40 also. Raise the sky outside so you can get a battlement to battlement conc, but make the bases farther apart. On the red side and blue side, they yards need to have the same amount of space and the water equal in space to one of the yards, so that you have 1/3 blue yard, 1/3 water and 1/3 red yard. Maybe have the water spiral like the spiral in oppose2k1 and the other spiral going to the basement like the spiral in bases_r2. Get rid of the bridge, to much DMing goes on there in pubs.

Wall up the Battlements a little more, Put a door with a button (like well). add another entrance into flag room directly from water but add a demo wall to open it. Add a drop down hole into teh flag room but put a laser across it and have a button in teh ramp room to turn it off. Add an escalator (like xo2) on every other level of teh spiral. Put a blow pipe (like scrummage) from teh bottom of teh elevator directly to teh bridge but only thier team can use it unless an enemy engineer comes and hits the on a button with his wrench and activates it for the enemy team. Put a bounce pad right in teh middle of the bridge.
On second thought that sounds like too much work and I have seen everyone of those added to the map 2fort in one way or another...and they all made the map worse.

Maybe a few subtle changes like losing the wall across from respawn in the room where the spiral entranc is. Shit like that.

eliminate the lower spawn make a pack that gives decent armor for the engys in basement then 2fort can be a 9v9 map :)

get rid of the upper area near the cappoint so snipers cant use it

just blow the whole thing up size-wise. make it about 135% its current size. i hate clipping the fucking ceilings in every other room.

Make the basement respawn have a hallway leading to it so you can't cover the ele from the respawn. Remove all the rafters in the map and smooth out the ceilings and raise them about 3 feet. Remove the bridge entirely or make it really really wide and get rid of the railing. Raise the skybox outside so you can make a batts to batts hh with ease. Remove the grate above the entrance and just leave a void there with the catwalk area going across it above. Widen the doorways a foot or so and make the spiral really wide. Keep the ramp room the same height but make it go back further so rockets take an extra split second to travel from the ele entrance to the rr entrance. Remove the narrowing at the bottom of the ele and just keep the hall from ele to area by lower resupply the same width as the elevator room.

i think the map is extremely balanced, but only played 8v8 or less.

Make it as large and as dark in the base as the 2fortX series was in QWTF.

its funny seeing everyone putting in there 2 cents on what should be changed, but it only seems like people want to eliminate or change things so its easier for them. the map is fine the way it is.

there are already a few 2fort remakes..remake a map that was actually decent but needs some touches on it to make it into league play again..
