So I've been watching this video of this dude playing one of his bands songs on drums...and even though I don't like the band as a whole (they are kinda boring on recording) the video of the drummer is pretty amazing.

anyways, show the vids of some of the drummers you find most impressive around the genre you listen to.

=O to the first video.

I've been drumming for over 10 years, and I just piked up a double bass pedal this past Christmas, all I have to say is, that guys is awsome.

he does gravity blasts too (which is hard to many drummers) which is a blast beat but the speed on the snare is as fast as a drum roll...but you use one hand. I think that maybe when the drummers do it they bounce their stick off the brim of the snare but I can't tell. My friends been trying to self teach himself to do it for the last month.

20 videos of Buddy Rich, without question, the greatest drummer of all time. I recommend watching: All four drum battles between Gene Krupa, Ed Shaughnessy, The Animal, and Jerry Lewis (even though the last two mentioned are a bit comedic.) Also watch Buddy Rich from 1978 and the video labled Frank Sinatra.

His speed and energy is simpy incredible. He played since he was a toddler until nearly his death. He plays better at 60+ years old then most drummers do when they're in their prime.

Neil Pert is amazing.

Neil Pert is good, but what is more impressive to me is how great drummers are with just a regular sized kit instead of the monster sets that drummers now adays have ( Neil Pert, Mike Portnoy, Every other well know drummer.) They are excellent drummers, but people like Kieth Moon and Buddy Rich who play on a normal kit and can sound like they do just appeals to me more.

The drummer for Beneath the Massacre.
He plays at drum machine-like speeds all while sitting on his stool looking bored.
What a freak.

at around 2 minutes, it gets to some pretty awesome intricacies with exact timing. Not only is he a rape drummer, hes an awesome pianist as well!

Also, Jimmy Chamberlin's timekeeping is shweeet. Richard Mazzotta of mewithoutYou plays some pretty complex beats. Every album they release, they get more and more awesome. I just heard Brother, Sister, and the drumming is spectacular!

Jimmy Chamberlin is without a doubt my favorite drummer. He's got an awesome style (pretty unique rock/jazz hybrid), and his fills are unparalleled IMO. He never seems like he's doing too much or not doing enough...it's always just right. Plus he has the amazing ability to make about 20 different noises with his snare drum, which I'll never understand.

Other notable drummers:

Matt Cameron (Soundgarden, some Pearl Jam)
Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers)
Steve Gadd
Buddy Rich
John Blackwell
Dave Dave Grohl (specifically his work with Queens of the Stone Age)
Josh Freese

For current bands this guy is tops for me. Hard to believe such a skinny little dude drums like he does. Guys like Bonham, Moon, and Peart also deserve all the respect they get. Although I prefer interesting beats and fills in the context of a song to guys with a ton of technical skill doing long solos.

Don't worry, I already have some Gnostic!

And Cynic is only touring for some Europe and possible US shows. Doubt they'll come within 6 hours driving of Minneapolis.

Jimmy Chamberlain-Smashing Pumpkins. Geek USA is fucking amazing.

Charlie Adams-taught Jimmy and was one of his mentors, played for Yanni. He's also stated that he thinks I am a very good bass player, so I'm biased because of that and the fact that I know him.

Carter Buford(even though I can't stand dave mathews band)
