What legal, aka pay-to-download, mp3 sites has anyone used or is currently using? I want one that has the most music, of course, and good speeds. Do not recommend me free shit like Limewire, Bearshare, etc.

I have used e-music, their selection is plentiful and the rates arn't terribly high. I believe you pay a certain amount for x number of downloads per month.

However, I just started using itunes (just bought an ipod) and it's really not bad software at all despite what some people may think. 99 cents a download and they have pretty much anything I can think of, plus a free download every week.

It isn't live yet, but they say you will be able to download free legit music from some of the "most popular" artists (ie Eminem, Sheryl Crow and Sting).

Ofcourse you are gonna have to deal with advertising...

If all ofmp3.com is illegal then the riaa should sue them. Its not really our problem. The songs I got from there I paid for, so they can see allofmp3.com for their money,.

Russian site, not totally legal, but it is by far either the cheapest way to legally d/l music, or the most expensive way to get illegal music... :p

Russian site, not totally legal, but it is by far either the cheapest way to legally d/l music, or the most expensive way to get illegal music... :pWe have a semi-winner.

Their content is obtained by illegal means. And then you're unwittingly paying for it. So essentially, you're paying for something that would otherwise be free under the auspices that it's legal when, really, it isn't.

If you're using those Russian 'companies,' you really should just bite the bullet and pirate your music for free like everyone else.

I buy stuff from there not so that it will be "legal", but because they usually have good quality, easily available mp3s that are sometimes hard to find for free. It's worth the 10c to me to save the trouble.

I don't think too many people download full albums and pay for them, rather, one or two songs off an album.

I think it's what mp3search.ru used to be. I haven't had a problem with them at all.

You can get stuff at allofmp3.com that is not available anywhere else.
Old out of print albums and so on. really I dont like any new music and Ive only downloaded albums I have owned in the past but lost one way or another.
Such as one time I bought a complete set of Black Sabbath the Ozzy Osbourne years. Within 6 months the cds went bad, and I was left with nothing, all of them just went bad at the same time. I dont care what record companies think, I have a right to obtain them again without paying. Other music that I listened to as a youth like early thrash metal that is not sold any longer, its part of me I have a right to download it. Some of these albums Ive bought 2 or 3 times already, I see no need to pay again when I know all the songs by heart and just want to listen to them once in awhile. Guns and roses Appetite album, Ive bought three times and each one got stolen from me. THey cant steal my mp3s!
