Reccomend me some. I have some of Garage, Inc. d/led and bought Tribute to the Gods yesterday. The only songs I'm not looking for is HIM,-Don't Fear the Reaper and Metallica-Stairway to Heaven, as those make me cry in how horrible they are.

I like every version of knocking on heavens door and house of the rising sun, no matter who they're by...dylan, gnr, clapton, floyd, whoever/ eagles, hendrix, floyd, doors, dylan, whoever.
Johnny Cash does the best covers imo. A couple:

Seeing as how Garage Inc. is the best damn thing Metallica has ever done and Iced Earth's Tribute to the Gods is amazing power metal covers, yes it is good. Much better than Panic! At The Disco ruining Queen. And plus you said Disturbed, which would've ruined any possible credibility your post could have had. I take it you've never heard their Fade to Black "cover", since butchering would be too harsh.

Panic! may fucking suck, but I think they did that song well, so to each his own. And talk about credibility, Iced Earth... fucking tool. Here's an idea, instead of leaving the topic open to interpretation you say "I'm looking for more dogshit that sounds like Metallica and Iced Earth," not just say you own them.

I never said I was looking for thrash and pwoer with a thrash influence covers, just good cover sin general. I've listened to most of the covers mentioned (aside from the rap/hip-hop) and the only ones I standby as being good is Hendrix, Cash, and Dark Tranquility (which, by the way is melodic death, not "dogshit like Metallica sdn Iced Earth"). And to call me a tool for liking Iced Earth is lol. Last I checked, Iced Earth makes great albums (see: Night of the Stormrider [even though Greely is a fag] and Something Wicked Comes This Way), not nu-metal crap Disturbed puts out (Get the fucking monkey down with the sickness? Is he saying he wants niggers to get AIDS?). And speaking of Fade to Black, why cover it when you only have 1 guitarist? That would be like me covering Iron Maiden's The Phantom of The Opera, but just doing the drumming and vocal work. And only part of the song, might I add. So please, stop being a thick fuck just because I disliked your reccomendations.

A) Disturbed blows, I just happen to like that one song.
B) I don't give a flying fuck if you like the covers I posted. You made an assumption that I actually LIKE the bands I posted and then proceeded to knock my music preference based on that assumption, so I had to chime in and be defensive and call your music preference shit, because I think is. But this is based on you liking Iced Earth and Metallica, so I assume you like bands that are similar.
C) I still agree that Disturbed's Fade to Black sucks. Don't fucking cover them if you can't do it right, and that goes for anyone.
If you like Metallica, check out Apocalyptica, they've done a few orchestra covers of their songs which you might like. They put out a CD of it too, http://www.amazon.com/Plays-Metallica-Four-Cellos-Apocalyptica/dp/B000001EMW. "The Unforgiven" sounds really good, and I also have a version of "One" that I like that isn't on that CD.

Something Wicked This Way Comes
For metal covers you may try Power From the North (http://www.amazon.com/Power-North-Sweden-Rocks-Rock/dp/B00004HYL2). Sweden Rocks the World.
Entombed and Southpaw make that album a mandatory pick up.

Who performed that before them?
john phillips wrote it and sold it to barry mcguire.. the girls actually sang in the background of the original version. it never really gained popularity so the mamas and papas released it 2 or 3 years later.
the original version uses a harmonica instead of a flute during the instrumental section.
