I picked out the parts for an AMD comp and a Intel comp. I don't know which one is better. Help me decide. The video card I've chosen is just temporary until the Dx10 comes out. I mean it seems like a step up from 9800 pro. Anyways, I just need to know which setup is better.

Get Intel.
Get faster RAM (NOT PC2-4200), try DDR800 to take advantage of the bandwidth increase.
Get a better power supply. Thermaltake PSUs suck.
Why the indescretion between seagate and WD when choosing hard dives?

That video card is terrible, and is not a step up from your 9800 Pro. At least get a 7600GT or a X800XL.

I couldn't edit my 1st post, so i had to c/p.
1. The Intel mobo seems to support SATA 3 g/bs and the AMD mobo can only go up to SATA150. So, I had to choose different HDs.
2. What's wrong with the video card? The clocks seem to be higher than the 9800 pro, isn't it?

No the card is much worse than the 9800 Pro. The 7300GS is a super budget card good for holding paper down on a windy day, and keeping water rings off of your desk. You could probably even find a PCI-E 6600GT for cheap, which would give you slightly better performance than your current 9800 Pro.

In reference to the impending layoffs, how much longer will you work there?

I just recently upgraded to one of the new FX processors but kinda wish I went to an Intel. Don't get me wrong, this FX processor is amazing, but I've been hearing great things about the top-of-the-line Intel chips I should have researched a bit more. Just my opinion, though.

a long time if people buy intel! I don't work FOR intel, i work at intel. I dont get any special deals like real intel employees do because i do not technically work for intel. The only real benefit i got was a Thinkpad. So in reference to your question, i will probably work here for a year. In May I will have my bachelors and then I plan to quit.

I just built a computer on the weekend for myself
I put the E6300 in it and plan to overclock it in a few months.
Go Intel. Nothing more to say. If you're curious why, check out tomshardware or just about any other similar site, the reviews are through the roof on the Core2's.
And I agree with getting a better video card. I went with the eVGA 7900GT KO 256mb, its a fantastic card, with a good price tag. You're better off getting a good card now, and buying a DX10 card when they come down in price and are actually completely necessary than you are buying a really shitty card now and spending out your ass for a good DX10 card later on.
And DEFINITELY get DDR800 (PC-6400) as I saw you seem to have agreed with, don't get a Core2 unless you're gonna get the other pieces of hardware that it makes complete use of.

Ok, I'm thinking of getting this card:
SAPPHIRE 100101L Radeon X850XT PE 256MB (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102052)
Decent?
I don't really want to spend that much on a gfx card, just something that is equal or a better than my 9800 pro.

Its a good card, I would still look at the 7800/7900 series because they rape.

That card is fine, Sub-Zero. You're not breaking the bank, and it will give you as good as if not better performance than your 9800 Pro. I disagree with Thrash_head, I wouldn't bother with a $250 card right now, so close to DX10. I'd just get a midrange card, then pay when the new cards are out.

The 7600's are good cards, too, and very modestly priced now.

as meestark said, the x850xt will give you significantly better performance compared to the 9800 pro. it will probably overclock quite well too.

Ok, I'm set of what I'm getting. Really appreciate the help :)
One more thing though, I kind of want to go wireless router. Is that a good idea, especially for gaming?

excellent.
as for the wireless question... meh. You won't ever have as good or stable of a conection as you would on wired.

I'd change the E6400 to E6600 and get the 320GB Seagate HD (It's either 90 or 95 bucks, can't remember).

Just so we're clear
You do realize you're getting an SLI motherboard, right?
I know you don't plan to keep your X850 for long, but you realize that you'll have to go NVidia, right?

You're right, the 320 Gig is just 5 bucks more.
chipman, does getting a SLI board mean I have to get 2 cards for it? And it has to be nvidia?
Maybe you can recommend something else then? :)

If you get a SLI motherboard, you dont have to get 2 video cards. It just costs abit extra money.
