One of my HDD just started clicking out of the blue and up and died. Dont remember what was on it aside from Bittorrent stuff.

Was my BT HDD so it got a damn good workout. I was going to send it to some recovery guys to see what they can do. Most of the files are easily downloaded again just time consuming. but I dont remember what was all on it besides the BT stuff.

Anyway it got me thinking about RAID. What would be a good RAID array for me to implement so I dont loose data again? I plan on getting into it for a data server later on too.

I would be interested in what is a good RAID controller card to start off with.

I don't know anything about RAID cards. I do know if you want a place to recover your files it will cost alot, we are talking in the 1,000-5,000 price range. Unless you are really rich, I would just kiss those files goodbye. You would want a RAID 1 setup (Mirroring) where one HD copys everything on to the other HD incase one fails.
