I just upgraded the hardware in the "server room" today and thought you guys would like to take a look. Keep in mind, this school used to have one server to do everything, and every one of the desktops were p3 or lower. The elementary also was using a token ring network with old IBM's with Pentium processors in them... I came in and we put 120 new dell desktops with FP's in and plus everything you see below... Enjoy.

^ This is the two small servers, they run the high school/elementary software.

I also update this after I take pictures of the 4 Labs we have.

^ This is the server room again, it has a p2 computer with XP Pro on it for no reason. It just sat in there and did nothing... lol?

^this was the lab before i did anything to it. They had the power and cat5 cable hanging from the ceiling to each computer. It was ugly, ghetto, and very unprofessional looking...

Zogo, I actually have no idea what IOS they use as of right now. I haven't really had to configure or mess with them much. They were pretty much plug and play for now until i get some more time to secure the network a little more.

What do you mean? How much do they pay me? The pay isn't that great, but its good enough for a 19 year old. I took this job to get my feet into the school districts around here. I get paid $15/h plus benefits. All in all, I value the experience more then the pay, but its still nice to get the monthly check :P

oooh 15/hr isn't bad. Although once you get more experience under your belt they will be paying through the nose!

try to find out what software they use and try to practice with it. If it is like ours you will be using Active Directory and Novell (NDS) for keeping track of everyone. Then you will also have to worry about the domain controllers, AV server, update server, novell server, file servers, etc.

Ew, you guys still use Novell? Shit, i thought they were pretty much dead by now... I hope to god that i don't have to use novell.. haha

A lot of the software that the Dr.'s and RN's use goes through Novell, the secretaries/etc just use a normal windows build that doesn't have novell installed on it.

Yeah, Novell is on its way down i believe. They were a HUGE part in the IT world, and if you look now they are slowly dieing. Most school districts around here all just switched from novell to straight windows, and each tech admin has said it made there life so much easier. It sucks because i was actually hoping that i would never have to work with novellsucks. Oh well, i guess it wouldn't hurt to learn it :P
