random windows explorer crashes

Ok, so there are like three or four folders that everytime I open them, Windows Explorer will crash. One folder is my movies folder and another is where all my downloads go. I use these folders pretty frequently, and this happens about 80-90% of the time I open them. What I usually do is just ignore the crash message and drag whatever I need to desktop, then go through the whole end program now and dont send error report bullshit. Its starting to get annoying and occurring more frequently. Any suggestions?

try copying them all to another folder, delete the original folder, then create a new folder with the same name and move them back.

it looks like it may have to do with the thumbnailing part of XP

that can also be a sign of a dying HD.

doubt it since it is brand new and hasn't occurred since I set to view as list.
