Random Map Gather Night

k i know i've made like... 2 posts similar to this one, but i'm finally going to try something. i'll get to the bottom line and make this short & sweet

i like playing maps that are different (even if they're imbalanced). i've run across a scattered few people who enjoy the same thing, but have no clue who they are. also, i've always wanted to do more than the "occasional" gather with a different map.

so here's what i'm gonna do

Tomorrow night, starting at i dunno... 9:00 pm EST i'm gonna do (hopefully) a couple of gathers on unique maps. if you're the kind of person that's interested in this kind of crap, PM me in #tfc.gather.us (username [RiCE]-S-Doc_JF). i'd like to do at least a few of these. here's some suggested/favorite maps:
-phantom / phantom_b2
-orbit_l3
-haste
-well_now


to clarify further:
-maps will be CTF or Reverse CTF (i.e. no ukfootie crap)
-maps should be at least known of by 1 or 2 people in the gather (i.e. don't go find something on JMC's and say THIS ONE)
-if map is not on the gather server we're using - we're not going to do it unless there's an OVERWHELMING number of people that want to, then i'll upload to my server.

doc just do what i do.. pick from my list. i've done 21 gathers i think it is now.. without a single map repeat, and i still have 24 more to go before we have to do the same map twice.

well... my goal is to get a group of people who aren't going to !remove as soon as they realize the map isn't monkey.... just takes too long to start the gather.

no one really plays oppose or bases.. or bf_rime, raiden_l2, voltage or waterwar.

you could also play destroy_l or mrk_fluffle or pretty much whatever else you want.

doc, you know you couldnt have a gather post if i didnt come somewhere and shoot it down.

But i actually cant shoot down this one, infact, i have some map suggestions (when i get some time to actually look through my maps and pick em out)

but i can safely say, nobody likes to play orbit and haste BECAUSE of the gather channel. Especially haste.

When stayne completed it last year, that's ALL we played for like, 2 solid months.

Hell, what I've always wanted to do, is do some of the 9v9 maps 4v4, and just let 1 extra guy in the server and let him play d engy or something both rounds. It sounds kinda crazy, but it's the same concept of when you were a kid playin football and had the "all time qb". It's fair to both teams cause it's a constant. D:

If ya did that, you could play more maps 4v4, especially since 8v8 and 9v9 gathers are few and far between.

hell, i miss unf, cause ALL he did was push gathers.

push, pushed, and footie was where it was at. Hell, I wouldnt even mind seeing the garbage known as wolteg_r every once in a while, and all of those can be played 5v5 or less. (Well, pushed is kinda 6v6, but 5v5 works)

And what about the other fun maps?

the rest you mentioned would be fine, but imo these are still pretty standard maps. chimkey mayyybe.

i think it's a cool idea. i've been in the gather channel and played some maps where i was like "wtf is ski_gutter" or something similar, and these new maps actually turned out being pretty enjoyable.
