..came out Friday. Has one map.
Nice change of pace from Battlefield 2.
Pros:
1. Titan Mode fun (could get redundant)
2. Graphics
3. Sound Effects and Music
4. Team Focused Maps
5. Simplified classes down to 4
6. In game buddy list
Cons:
1. Disconnected every 5 minutes (after about 3 dc's it was fine for hours)
2. Some servers lag real bad 1 fps
3. Some graphics bugs (its a demo)
4. Laggy on titan
5. Don't like the ranking system or EA

because of the fact that it is using the BF2 engine (therefore the same bugs and programs as BF2 + more more likely) I will not be buying it. I haven't played BF2 for months since I have been playing WoW or Flight Sim X.
I downloaded the demo and installed it but haven't played it yet.

bf2 was better, you dont even start off with grenades aka clan matches will be almost soley vehicle driven cause only the engineer can really take one out

maybe most ladder clan matches will allow unlocks? (since it's kinda a requirement now to have unlocks.)
I bet theyll make a setup for clanplay where they only allow tier 1/2 unlocks.
(that would give you nades/defib/and all the essentials.)

I like the new bugies with the speed boost (which was suppose to be in BF2), jihading/kamizkazing will never be so much fun!

I would buy it but my god I can't take the anger I feel when I play that game. Seriously, the aggrivation and frustration gives me headaches.

Battlefield 2142 With a Dash of Spyware
Tipper Nic directs our attention to this forum post, where we read of a disheartening little slip of paper that suggests some seriously gross spyware will be installed along with Battlefield 2142, all in the name of in-game advertising:
So. In the latest CGW podcast, they received retail boxed copies of BF 2142.
When you open the box, a big slip of paper falls out first, preceeding any discs or manuals. The slip of paper says, essentially, that 2142 includes monitoring software which runs while your computer is online, and records "anonymous" information like your IP address, surfing habits (probably via cookie scans), and other "computing habits" in order to report this information back to ad companies and ad servers, which generates in-game ads.
Now, I can live with certain in-game ads (though apparently there will be Dodge truck and Neon ads in the bleak, futuristic world of 2142), but including a lengthy description - outside of even the Eula - seems to indicate even EA knows that this is some shady borderline spyware shit. I don't support it and won't be buying 2142 (for a host of other reasons, too).
Can you imagine how much the ad companies are paying for this information? Makes me feel a little ill. Eliza Gauger
