hell yeah, I don't even like rush but I know the song, and it's gotta be cool to play. I don't see how anyone could play Dick Dale though, the guitar controller doesn't seem responsive enough to stay on top of something like that.

they tweaked the way the guitar plays quite a bit, its waaay easier to do hammer-ons and pull-offs now, things that were hard to do in GHI are fairly easy to perform on the new one.

This game is being played at my fraternity house roughly 23 hours a day. It has swept us all, everyone's fucking addicted to all hell.

That said, the new playlist is alright, there are a few gems but I'm not extremely impressed by all the modern stuff.

some guy obtained the NEW 10 song demo from somewhere, put it in his computer, translated a bmp.trk or some shit (i really could care less how he did it) and album covers of those bands (with band name/trk title in the image name) were in the image folder. these are bonus songs, i'd assume, because the last 4 pictures showed a guitar getting spraypainted (skins), a music note or something (new songs), a jacket (new outfits), and a silhouette (new characters).

soo... this isn't really confirmed, but it's a good hunch!

Just like real dancing should be more fun than a game like Dance Dance Revolution. Games like this are addicting as hell and a lot of fun. It's certainly more rewarding to learn to play the real thing at the level that you can "play" in the game, but people are lazy and most aren't going to put that kind of time in.

I was trying to explain this game to my manager (who does in fact own a PS2), and he said the same thing- "Wouldn't you rather just play a real guitar?".
But there's no real corollary between a "game" and "playing music". Yes, you do both for personal satisfaction, but they're two separate experiences with different goals and rewards. Actual guitar playing is a creative process, where Guitar Hero is more geared to competetiveness (as is any other 'rythym game').

It's extremely short-sighted to say "I'd rather play a real guitar". That's analogous to saying "Instead of playing 'Rainbow 6' I'd rather be in a gunfight with a real SWAT team". Because, no, you really wouldn't.

Every single person I have showed Guitar Hero has loved it. Some people liked it so much that they got it for themselves if they had a PS2.

Also, GH2 will be coming out for the Xbox360 sometime early next year and will have Xbox Live support to download new songs and other stuff.

holy crap, it is so much fun! My friends and I Have been playing for like 8 hours straight, already beat all songs on hard before switching to coop and having a blast doing that, my friend and I both just 5 starred the Rage song!

i love this game, although i think my fingers are going to go numb soon. the new hammer on system is awesome, theres actually a method to the mayhem that is face melting solos.

after attempting all the songs the only one i cant beat on expert is the bonus track jordan (jesus christ the solo is nuts). other than that even most of the bonus songs are pretty good as well as pretty much all 40 main ones being good. so far id say the dethklok, shadowsfall, a7x, and megadeth are my favorite songs to play.

so does anyone use the hyper mode? i just tried it out on yyz on expert and my score went up exponentially (finally 5 starred heh), its so much easier to see patterns albeit theyre coming at you twice as fast. the only use i saw for this before was on jordan, but i think i might try and use it exclusively now if it keeps increasing my scores like this.
