so my buddy has a 4 year old gateway and he wants me to build him a new one. he just wants to be able to play a few games, so video performance isnt a heafty need. hes just looking for an all around upgrade in performance. i havent been in the hardware scene for a while, so im just checking to see if there are any compatibility issues with the stuff ive selected. im trying to keep it relatively cheep, but get the best bang for the buck.

(some people complain about that psu, but ive had it for a year and it still runs great)

hes keeping the case, cd drive, keyboard, mouse, speakers, etc, so alls he needs is new parts. the total comes out to like 600 bucks shipped (which is a fucking steal) so i think it turned out well. feel free to substitute where needed. thanks!

I would go ahead and get the 3700+ SD, its only like 99 bucks now.

actually I would get the 3800+ dual core, it is like $110 and gives excellent performance.

I actually mis-spoke, I could have sworn I saw them for that cheap a bit ago (on the egg and other sites) but as of right now they are about $150-$160.

I'm currently building a new system for my sister and this is very similar to what I'm considering. Would this X850XT (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102059) be a better choice than that 7600GT?
