Is one of the few species on the planet who's population increased in the past few years.

And we're all to blame.

BEIJING (Reuters) - Humans are stripping nature at an unprecedented rate and will need two planets' worth of natural resources every year by 2050 on current trends, the WWF conservation group said on Tuesday.

I really think there isn't much to worry about with regards to that article. We may be consuming more energy in the future, but we will also be finding more ways to harvest it. Solar energy for one will most likely be used greatly in the future.

I can see technology helping out in certain ways as leg mentioned, but in regards to food consumption, human waste and just plain lacking in space for a population increasing at a huge exponential rate, technology isn't going to help very much in those categories. There are some hypotheticals that technology could help them on, but nothing of great reality as of yet. 'Yet' being the key word I suppose.

Don't need to worry at all. We all have seen it in past, anytime a species grows out of control some new virus comes out and kills off 1/3 of population and we go back and start all over again. Humans are long over due for a new global virus.

Ever notice how the tuna tastes different without the dolphin....
I miss the pre-dolphin-free tuna days of the 70's... :D

I wonder what Wombat's taste like...

GG uninformed media. Like SARS and H5N1 are really the biggest risks for an outbreak to us right now.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Clambakes, crabcakes, swordfish steaks and even humble fish sticks could be little more than a fond memory in a few decades. If current trends of overfishing and pollution continue, the populations of just about all seafood face collapse by 2048, a team of ecologists and economists warns in a report in Friday's issue of the journal Science.

Possibly sensationalism, but more then likely there is some truth within all of it.

Those diseases are ass pimples compaired to the black plague. I don't know why anyone would even get hyped because some people are dying from a disease weaker than the flu. Actually i do. -- I support the return of the bubonic plague.
