I live in new york and have roadrunner cable modem. For the past year, my internet doesn't work and keeps resetting the ip to some other different one, when it is suppose to be like 192.168.1.100, etc.. I had a Linksys router and I got another Linksys router because I thought the old one was giving me enough problems. I tried everything to fix it, re-installing firmware, messing with the internet settings, and it almost everyday it would reset my ip and lose connection. Usually I have a whole bunch of stuff d/l or using BT and in the morning it would all stop cuz of my fucking connection keeps messing up.
Now, I got a new router and now the fucking internet is slow as fuck. The upload is doesn't go more than 15-20 kbps/sec and my d/l speed is fucking ridiculous, it barely goes over 10 kbps/sec. Usually the speeds are 40 kbps/sec upload and 200 kbps/sec download.
I went on dslreports and it said my d/l speed is 91% worse than the average rr.com user lol
I don't what to do, it seemed my old router was faster but incredibly unreliable, and my new router is more stable, stays connected, doesn't reset, but is REALLY slow.
Is it my cable modem needs changing, another router, or could it be the LAN cables? I have had rr for about 5 years now.

have you tried not using a router and going directly from the modem?

Ok, I tried connecting to the cable modem before but it never connected to the internet.
Now, for some reason I tried it and it works; it took a little work though.
This is the same speed I get(as before with the router):

Usually I would get more than 250 kb/sec, now this :(

If you hooked up directly to your modem and you're still not getting the speeds you think you should be, call up your ISP and have them check what speeds your modem is trained up at.

ROFL, this is what I get from dslreports and I am connected to the modem:

I'll do that tomorrow, ad. I tried finding out some stuff on rr.com but it's all BS, nothing I can find out how fast my speed is suppose to be.
