So having redicovered my inner comic-book nerd recently, after exposing my 4 year old to all my old comic books, especially the Avengers, I have decided I want to pick up CoH/V sometime this weekend.

I looked back through the threads here and the last thread about it was back in June or whenever... so who is still playing this? What servers you on? What's your opinion on the game thus far?

My MMORPG background is pretty much NIL, except for my beta testing of Star Wars Galaxies. I am not a big fan of the genre that spawns games like WoW, so this seems like right up my alley. I thought about getting Marvel Ultimate Alliance, but that is just a hack and slash game, which i am not a big fan of either. And seeing as how I have no idea when Marvel Universe Online is coming out, or if its still coming out (ironically being made by Cryptic Studios... who Marvel sued due to costumes and such in CoH), I thought I would pick this up and play it until MUO comes out if it looks worthy to pick up by then.

At any rate... holla

I am ashamed to do it, but I know you bastards exist... so now I have to bump my own thread to elicit a response.

Does this game have monthly fees? Cause it looks pretty good.

There is a monthly fee of $15 and i used to play, CoH about a year and a half ago and CoV about a year ago when it first came out.

The concept of the game is good in a sense that you dont have to worry about having super gear, it's more about how you spec, and your enhancements. The storylines were pretty fun to do, although sometimes repetitive ie, go retreive so and so, defeat these henchmen. There were some sepcial "task force" missions every 10 levels or so which were a string of missions which basically took up a lot of time. I remember doing one of the then-considered "endgame" task force missions in the storm palace and it took like 6+hrs to complete. The fun part of doing storylines and task forces is that you get to fight a (famed) archvillian and you get a badge for it (lol).

CoV wasnt much different, leveling up with the same type of missions. But during the period of time i played, the level cap was still 40. So a lot of the "real" content i have not played. I never even tried the supergroup raids. But the "pvp" was fun Although many stayed away from it because at the time, people felt thats what made the game "different", you couldnt get ganked. As a Stalker, it was actually pretty fun.

That's all i can remember from playing the games. If theres anything more specific you'd like to know I might still be able to answer :p

Hey, thanks for the response. What I am really curious about if anyone on here currently plays, and what server.

I don't want to go through the trouble of creating and leveling my guy(s) and then want to switch servers, and have to start over again.

I picked it up Monday night, and created a character on the Virtue server. I've only played for a few hours about 3 nights this week, and hit level 5 last night.

Thinking about joining a server SuperGroup when I hit Level 6... unless of course, getting to 6 proves vastly more difficult!
