View Full Version : Best Console for Xmas

OK, I decided to bone out for a new system for my son for Christmas. He had a GameCube up until a few months ago when it blew up on him.

He's 10. Xbox 360 would be my first choice but I need to consider what system would have games that would be appropriate for him, and Xbox games seem more adult-geared generally. Then again, I really don't know. Thoughts?

Anyways, I'd still go with the 360. It may be more adult oriented, which can work for you, but it also has some titles more appropriate for younger kids (Kameo, Marvel Ultimate Alliance [can still be enjoyed by nerds like me], racing games if he is into those types, and of course the vast amount of sports games the Xbox and 360 have always gotten).

If he already had a gamecube the Wii is going to be able to play the gamecube games and use the GC controller for the Virtual Console games.

You should probably get him a Wii. It's cheapest and with the virtual console he'll be able to play tons of old games appropriate for him. Plus I bet a 10 year old would have the most fun with a controller that moves with his movements.

Agreed, plus it will help keep him physically involved, and quite possibly provide u with some entertainment when he invites his 10 year old friends over to jump around and fight ninjas and such.

While I do think the 360 will be the best overall console, for your purposes I think the Wii is the way to go.

The one thing that MS does have is the marketplace that has lots of good games that are just fine for a 10 y/o.

But he'll probably enjoy the Wii the most.

PS3 isn't even an option in this case IMO.

I have a 360 and it's great. But I agree with the reasons stated above. I would get the Wii for the kid.
