Ok.. I had no clue where this would fit so putting it here.

My friend dropped off his mp3 player wanting me to put up my playlist on his player and I couldn't figure out how to convert the files to the specific ones. I opened Windows Media Player doesn't have any of the right files. I downloaded Quicktime latest version doesn't have any converting thing. Was wondering what program to get to convert the files to mpeg-1 mpeg-2 mpeg-4.

are you trying to convert a playlist? because if so, then you can't. now if you wanted to put the songs on your playlist on his player, then you should be able to upload the songs to his player (i don't have a sandisk so i'm not sure what proper software it uses although dbpoweramp's sveta has something for every player).
the playlist itself is just a text file of sorts that shows the location of your files.
if the songs you have are already .mp3 then you should be able to upload them, if they're .ogg or anything else then you'll have to transcode them (try dbpoweramp, foobar2000...)
hey guys i'm smart.

No, he means Sandisk. Most likely his friend has some form of a Sandisk Sansa (http://reviews.cnet.com/SanDisk_Sansa_e270_6GB/4505-6490_7-31684140.html).

And I'm also really not sure why you would have to convert to mpeg-1, -2, or -4.

(i don't have a sandisk so i'm not sure what proper software it uses although dbpoweramp's sveta has something for every player).

If I'm right about what device he's talking about, it should be just drag and drop. My e250 didn't come with any software for loading music, just converting files.

if they're .ogg or anything else then you'll have to transcode them

there is a difference between transcoding and converting

and i put transcoding there because of the assumption that he would be going from one lossy format to mp3 (another lossy format). i know all about this guy.

Ok.. I got the audio on the music player. Now I'm trying to do video and the video uploads correctly under .wmv, shows up under the files and plays through the players until you disconnect the usb and it doesn't show up on the player anymore.
