im looking for this old game i used to play in 7th grade, that'd be about 8 years ago now, im pretty sure it must have come already on the old iMACs because it was on a school computer and i doubt the teacher put it on there. it was from the same time when they used to give you that 3d game where you were a purple bug and could roll around and collect stuff.

anyway, if it didnt come with the computer, it was one of those top down perspective games where you have a bunch of tiny guys and you control them, your army. it was sort of a medievil/fantasy setting where you had archers, swordsmen, etc. and fought all sorts of skeleton warriors and such.

i want to say it was called rune, or dune, or something like that. i've looked and looked and cant find it anywhere, just wondering if anyone knows off hand what im talking about?

Dune 2 or 2000 are RTS but more futuristic than medieval so no skeletons/archers ect..
Rune is a viking themed third person hack and slash fest.

I doubt any of those games are what you're looking for.

Warcraft I?
http://www.blizzard.com/war1/

Warcraft: Orcs & Humans is the real-time fantasy strategy game from Blizzard Entertainment that quickly became a best seller. Warcraft has not only become a classic, winning many awards, but it has set new standards for multiplayer games. Set in the mythic kingdom of Azeroth, players are given the task of maintaining a thriving economy while building a war machine with which to destroy the enemy.

By playing either the Humans or the Orcs in this saga, two separate story lines evolve with 12 scenarios per side telling the tale of the battle for Azeroth. From swords to sorcery, all the elements of classic fantasy are here to explore: rich forests, dark dungeons and bubbling swamps await the stalwart troops amassed to fight for dominance. Command many unique armies and creatures including Knights, Archers, Clerics, Warlocks, Daemons, Elementals, and the Dead.

nah, there was no economy system like warcraft. i only ever played the first level.

from what i remember, you start out with only a few guys, like 1-3 or so, and you can go to a village and there's civilians, but you can also find commandable troops who can fight for you. then if i remember correctly you have another larger army somewhere else that you fight your way too, meet up with, and take on the larger enemy army.

it was a sort of axionometric view game, not directly aerial, like warcraft.

god this is driving me nuts

Ya... that was back when Bungie was the mac's ubisoft, and not microsoft's halo bitch. The Myth series games are probably my favorite RTS's since it was all about being tactical with a given number of starting units instead of getting good at micro'ing progress bars and building farms. God I loved the dwarven demo guys in that game... they could either win the game for you, or blow up your entire army.

That last video is complete bullshit, they juggle the ball with explosions and cap it with less than 1 second left... watch the clock.

lmao! Yes, remember that level with all the wights & zombies that come pouring through that long trench? I've blow up more than my share of allies in that area with a satchel charge and a flaming arrow.

OH MY GOD, earlier this year i reinstalled and raped the shit out of Myth 2, i can't find my myth 1 stuff tho. that game was so badass, i can't believe i didn't see this sooner!

my brother was ranked like moon or whatever it was for a good while (that was like top 10 on bungie net) i was pretty high, like top 400ish but i was way more into AoE at the time

edit: wow i forgot how awesome the journal storyline was and how moody it was, they nailed those games. i never tried myth 3 for some reason, i think thats when Diablo 2 became big tho

You didn't miss much with myth 3. I think what happened is bungie got bought out by microsoft right after they started development on it, so they handed it off to another company while they went to work on Halo. The other company kinda fumbled the project apparently. Myth 2 was definitely the best.

God, I remember playing that awesome last level of the single player campaign. You've got a handful of guys and you're carrying this immortal god's head that you have to throw into a bottomless hole while a massive army led by a crazy motherfucker that can solo your army chases you. I just remember my last dwarf chucking the head into the hole right as he got cut in half by the other god, and watching both heads rolling into the pit to win the mission.

Poor dwarf, your sacrifice was not in vain.

lol.
