Every year, we have a thread where people post their "loot", but nobody (as far as I can remember) has posted a list of what they gave. So, what did you all give this year?

Friend - Amarcord and Masculin féminin Criterion Collections
Friend - Sweet ass hat
Friend - Flask with his name engraved in it
Cousin - $50 worth of gourmet chocolates.
Cousin - Clerks 2 and Silence of the Lambs Criterion Collection
Aunt - A ton of really good organic teas
Uncle - Gift card to Peets Coffee
Brother - Madden 2007 for Wii
Grandma - Burberry Scarf

I still have a little more shopping to do, but I'm hoping this thread will help with some ideas for what to get people.

So far, I've spent $600. My next paycheck can't come soon enough :(

Canon Elura 70 for my wife

Historic Context Bible for my mom

Rattle & Ride Pooh, some awesome pop-up tents, TMX Elmo for my son.

I got some other stuff for my brothers and sister, but since my wife does the shopping I don't really remember what it was.

I am not getting nor giving shit to anybody for christmas this year.

My parents just made some improvements to their house, my future sister in law and her husband just bought a house, and me and my g/f have agreed to not buy gifts for each other and just save money since we're buying a house in 6 months.

I don't go shopping until Dec. 20th week. Mainly because I am a teacher (i get 2 weeks off) and that I am a guy. With being a guy, I have never bought gifts for my male friends. That seems to um, gay? I might buy them a shot at the bar and say "merry xmas" to them but never a gift. I only buy gifts to the direct family members. Since my birthday is the 26th of December, I tell all my friends to goto the bar one night and we buy shots for each other...works out great.

For my family:
wife: amber earrings, a cat (and I HATE cats but she wanted one), a vinyl record player (she wanted one so bad), and a $200 Victoria's secret gift card, because I always get the wrong size.

Mom: the same damn perfume and William Wegman calender that I have been giving for the past 10 years. She only wants that, so I stay with what works.

Dad: A year subscription to Penthouse (a gag gift for my single 72 year old dad), some Black and Decker tools, and spending a week to build a new deck.

The in-laws: Taking them on an Alaskan Cruise in May. It may seem a lot, but they gave us one hell of a wedding :D

I mainly tell everyone I know to just get me a gift card to bestbuy. Since my birthday and xmas are shared, it's easier that way.

Brother: Mousepad (icemat), mouse (logitec g7). headset (icemat) total: $166
(still need some other things)
Dad: Book, Digital video camera total: $550 (split w/ brother)
(still need some other gifts)
Mom: Framed pictures of family, a nice coat, some trinkets, Kenmoore
washer/dryer brand new total: $2500 ish (split with dad and brother)

I have not decided to buy gifts for friends yet

How can you seriously be spending 3k on Christmas gifts for 3 people??

unfy
December 13th, 2006, 07:30 PM
I don't know, it wont be 3k for me, because some of cost is split, like on the washer/dryer, but it's the 3 people I care about the most and I have the money.

Christmas just isn't the same for me anymore. Even with having kids for more than a few years now. After having the negative atmosphere around here, I don't think that I will ever have the 'mood' again.

Thanks, honey !

$600??? Dude, I spent like $40 on my entire family and on my friends. Could be because I'm poor and or cheap, but even if I had the cash to throw around, all of those people don't deserve nice and expensive shit.

I'm not going to list all of my pointless and cheap ass gifts, but I will say that I bought one of my sisters a nice bottle of red wine (it was on sale) cause I'm tired of hearing about her drinking wine from a box. I have a ghetto ass family.

I'm giving my parents each a set of Penzeys spices tailored to their personal tastes, since they love cooking.
My sister and her husband love everything involving legendary performers, specifically comedians (brother-in-law runs a comedy club in San Jose and his entire family works in the industry) so I'm designing, printing, and framing a Charlie Chaplin poster for them, since he's one of the few performers they can't find anything of which they like.
My girlfriend is getting the shaft. Literally (in reality I don't know what she wants).

Matt I need the following...

A few used Nikon SB24-28 flashes... whatever... can get them for like $80 on ebay
Maybe get me like a 11-14mm Canon Lens
Maybe the 70-200 as well that would be nice!
And like probably $200 in cash would be sweet.

Thanks honey

She likes to pleasure me sexually. Should I get her some flavored lubricants or something? I'm sure it would make crotch to mouth much easier on her.

That reminds me of last years Christmas with my family. My uncle went around in a circle asking everyone if they got him something for Christmas (he doesn't look at the note of who gave him what I guess). If you said no, you wouldn't get anything. If you said yes, you had to say what it was and then he'd take out his wallet and give you $10.

So I guess in my families case, if you don't get them something, you don't get anything.

Yeah. He's gotten a little odd and needy over the years too. I live like 45 minutes away from him and he keeps asking to hang out and to hook him up with one of my friends. I'm 24, and I believe he's in his 50's. :/

He's cool when he's drunk or stoned though during family get togethers.

I'm poor and on welfare, so my gift giving was pretty limited. Given I live in a very economically depressed area, that's par for the course. Anyway, here it is:

Father (big outdoorsman, loves to hunt and such): New pair of 16 x 32 compact binoculars.
Mother: gloves, scarf, touque and ear muffs that all match the new coat she got
Brother: Ren and Stimpy first season DVD set
Girl Friend: Bath set with: lotion, bubble bath, salts, bath oil, foot massager, back scrubber, puff. Also a key-shaped, crystal encrusted pendant (key to my heart... stfu), hawiian ginger scented body spray, shower lotion, and moisturizer. New day planner, walled and lipstick holder for her purse

Still have a lot of buying to do.

Also, I'm making a dart board cabinet for my living room out of solid pine. If it turns out any good I'm going to make one out of solid oak or maple of mahogony. I hope it turns out well.

i think the religious point of it was you celebrate the life of christ because he gave away the greatest gift he had to the people he loved.

but yea anyway i agree with your statement that people have forgotten why it's for (this coming from an atheist.)

i'd much rather recieve a random gift during the year then a specified one on a certain date.

that being said my family is small (just me and mums) but i got her a $1600 plasma hdtv as a bday/xmas/housewarming gift.

and for my gf im still unsure of what to do... ahhhh one week left!! and this shits important to her unlike me.

you can make it work if you limit the stuff you get yourself. I've personally quit drinking since April and now I have lots of money for people's gifts.

ROFL

And Jenn, yeah it is pretty limited, compared to what I want to get them and the amount of money I owe them all. I spent less than 50 bucks on each person, when in reality I owe each of them well over a hundred. If I had the money I could easily spend a couple hundred on each of them.
