a wee update

it was getting boring in here so ill spice it up no matter how terrible the work

so due to lack of any space whatsoever for art in my house most anything "big" has to be completed outside of my home somewhere (which is a huge bitch). so i only have a few "big" updates and the rest is crappy little sketchbook buisness.

again, completely owning me is my 1.3 mp olympus camera - for lack of a scanner. why i didnt ask for one for christmas will always mystify me.

4 ft high by 3 ft wide, micron. i basically tried to give it movement, depth, and keep it balanced. 2 hours

it looks better in person...from a distance (which is bad, i know). it only took about 25 minutes of painting so its sloppy craftsmanship is showing up pretty brutally. the colors are fucked too, that blue green is a lot darker in person. the bottom is all micron hatching, the ink is sumi. this was done before the previous one, but i basically attempted the same things: depth (which this does a lot better, i think), movement, and keeping it balanced. 4ft high by 3 ft wide

i cant remember if i posted this before. its a self portrait made by an acetate print and sharpies. its 4ft by 4 ft. took roughly 9 hours to lay down all 16 faces by hand. (and probably an hour to plan the print)

sorry im not as crazy as mac :(

i cant manage to take straight on photos so a lot of them are distorted to the side.

i also never really "practice" as in do studies of life objects and stuff and try to better my rendering skills, but im trying to now. i have another figure drawing class coming up so hopefully ill get some catacombs-art-gallery-action after that.

Seriously though, I really dig that second piece. I'm not particularly artistic myself and I don't really know why I like it so much, but I would hang that sumabitch on my wall, NEL.
