Is it normal for my uncompressed avi to be almost 50 gb's? I'm in the final stages, and almost ready, but I fail to realize how 50 gb's of information can be compressed down to <1gb and still maintain it's quality.

yes its normal if its uncompressed. when its uncompressed, im pretty sure if you check the file size of all your screenshots that you used to make the avi, it should be about that size.

compressing it with xvid or something of the like should make it way under 1 gb, unless you have like a 20+ minute avi.

Completely.

My new avi is like, 798 mb compressed, but uncompressed, it totaled to be 88.6 gigs.

Haha ok, that's very reassuring. I thought I was doing something wrong. I know I have the visuals and the editing down, but I went to go do a draft compression, and I realized the size [I only have 250gb HDD] and gasped.

Also, do you know why Sony Vegas 7.0 only lets me 'Render As...' in a 0:05 second clip with no audio or video? It only does it for the first version [shitty] of my avi... It's not big deal, I just don't want it to happen on my new one.

it's probably because in the options that come up under the "render as" savescreen, you have "Render Loop Region Only" checked. uncheck it.

It's checked, but it's also greyed out.

Meh, it doesn't really bother me that much since my second version has already rendered without a problem.

ya might have to restart vegas before you render.

I know that if i work on my avi for a while, i have to restart vegas before i can render.

It's weird, but it's not really that bad.

If it's greyed out it means you don't have a loop region (i.e. you drag your cursor and highlight 1 clip out of the whole project on the video track). If it's greyed out, don't worry about it.

If it's not, uncheck it.

idk much about vegas but if you want to render the whole thing just click that orange bar that's at the top above the timeline then render. (hope that answers your question)

i use vegas 5.0 so they might have changed something with that

your avi better be over 40 mins long. moc was 30 and it was 620 or somethin.

the record for my uncompressed avi is 80 gigs for 1 clip. [x]2 last clip, had to delete a couple avis just to compress it.
