i just had all four of mine out about 2 weeks ago. it wasn't too bad. if you get em out, you better smoke a few blunts the night before because you can't smoke or drink out of straws for a few days after surgery. i got put under so i didn't feel any pain at all. only bad thing about it is the bloody taste in your mouth for about a day. good luck.

yea i think you cant smoke for 1-2 weeks. i dont care as long as i get these satans out of me, im ready to use a shotgun on them.
im not gonna ask for anesthesia, it doubles your bill and i got no insurance, plus it's not all that healthy.

you're going to let them surgically remove 4 teeth from your mouth? without any form of a pain suppressor? and its not all that healthy? sounds to me that not only do you have king kongs hammering in your mouth, there is shit pouring out of it also.

Valium + novacaine. Anything less and you'll want to die.

i was smoking right after i got mine out.
i was up and back to work that day actually.
i only had to get 3 out coz i only had 3... but all i remember is going into the APT. them putting those things in my nose then a IV. then I woke up all confused.
but maybe 1-2 hours later (about the time they told me to keep the Gause in) i was eating solid foods with no problem. even taking small bong rips.. SMALL!!! because like everyone I was scared at first, when they tell you not to smoke for weeks. I would just inhail small rips until I got out of that mind and manned up to take a normal one.
no pockets. nothin.
i hardly used any of my PK's because i really wasnt in any pain. But then again advil was my friend for about a week and a half as it kept my cheeks normal and from any inflamitory from the OP. But i was pain free when i walked in. pain free when i walked out.
ps: lol! you'll want them to put you under. who cares if it doubles it. I doubt you'll want to be awake when (if) they break your jaw to remove them. cut them out. pull. sew... etc etc.

I got mine out over the summer and got the pleasure of having something go wrong. Lucky for the surgeon there are waivers. The left side of my tongue has been mostly numb since June. Hopefully someday all the feeling comes back.

novacaine is just fine. If any of them came through while you put it off, it works out for the better. Less cutting/drilling they have to do and the aftermath isn't really all that bad, as compared to if they hadn't come through at all. I had all 4 pulled, but 2 at a time. Two were through, two weren't.
Then one grew back. rofl

I had all 4 of mine pulled at once when I was 15 and was totally knocked out for the entire procedure.
I was totally miserable for 2 weeks, I honestly don't understand how some people have really bad experiences and others are totally fine after 1 day. I couldn't even fully open my mouth for at least a week and it hurt to chew anything solid.

the reason they dont let you smoke is because if could cause air bubbles in the pockets of where your teeth were. which later could cause some disease, i forget. just saying, i wouldnt smoke. i ate a lot of soup and jell-o and stuff.

it depends on if the teeth are impacted or not (which means they are already hitting/grinding up against your existing teeth). impacted wisdom teeth are more difficult (and more painful) to remove, as they are located that much closer to the roots of your permanent teeth.
i was a lucky one- i had all 4 taken at once, none were impacted. i was out for the whole thing (iv drip + gas). all i remember was waking up really out of it and the nurse helping me to my parent's car. the rest of the day i was on codine and playing MMORPGs online with my friends. (aparently due to the codine, i was acting as if i were my character like some roleplaying dipshit)
bottom line, i never felt any pain and i was eating solid foods a few days later

I had 2 removed because at the time that's all I could afford so eventually I'll get the other 2 done. Ended up getting knocked out which I guess was a good thing because they told me I had some of the worst impacted wisdom teeth they had seen. Woke up and went home with the pads in my mouth to soak up blood and honestly I felt fine from pretty much then on. Was a little bit sore but I was able to eat solid foods in a few days. Only thing that sucked is that the guy missed a chip and I had it in there for the next 4+ months until the dentist removed it.

I had mine taken out about 2 years ago. I was pretty sore for the first 3-4 days after surgery. Take the pills they give you...they are lifesavers. I can't remember what they gave me, but taking one of those knocks you on your ass for a few hours.
On a side note, I live in HB as well Suicidal. Where are you at exactly?

get knocked out, otherwise its gonna suck
smoking can cause dry sockets, it makes your gums heal wrong. i waited a few days before i smoked again and I turned out fine.
i took my painkillers the first day while i was still all fucked up on the I.V. they gave me and they made me puke. that was the worst thing to experience....throwing up the same day that I just got my wisdom teeth out. because of this i just ended up not taking any of my painkillers, only advil/tylenol for a couple weeks. my face was swollen for like 2.5 weeks, i thought something was wrong but they said it would be fine and i eventually healed up alright
rinse with warm salt water a couple times a day and it makes the gums heal really fast

holy shit don't even think about doing this without getting knocked out. everything else will be fine

phew all better now.
i only did 2 teeth, the ones on my left side, all though all that was bothering me was the bottom one but they still made me take the top out.
it was an extra $300 for the anesthesia like i figured so i opted for the the lidocaine. they gave me the shot, i waited about 15 min for it to kick in (the shit tasted horribleeeeeeeee) then the whole procedure took about 10 minutes. they first cut the flap of gum that was partially covering my bottom tooth, then they sawed each tooth in half and pliered each half out of me before stitching me back up. it was all painless just felt like someone was pushing shit around with their finger in my mouth.
for the next 2 hours i was miserable though, it had been a while since i felt that much pain. the pharmacy took forever to get me my meds. after i got em i stood in agony during rush hour traffic on the belt pkwy . i finally came home spit my gauze out took an antibiotic and an ibuprofein and curled up in a ball. stuck another tissue in my mouth first and then just lay there for half an hour.
they gave me vicadin too which ill probably sell. i was a little anxious taking the ibuprofein since i stay away from all medications, but i felt like i needed it. it was the first time i used a pain reliever since i was pre-pubescent... except for the antibiotic i took half a year ago for my throat (i had a thread about that too, now that was probably the most painful thing ill ever have gone through in life)

it's not really bleeding that much anymore, i think me biting down on all those gauze's was what caused it. as soon as i stopped replacing them the bleeding lessened.
one last question, would anything negative happen if i stop taking the antibiotics . are they mostly a preemptive measure or are they necessary for the healing proccess?

The only thing they had me on when my wisdom teeth were removed (all 4) was novacaine. It took them a little over a half hour to get them all out, but most of that time was spent on one tooth. The one on the bottom right-hand side of my mouth wouldn't come lose, and eventually they broke it while torquing down on it. While it wasn't really painful, it was uncomfortable as all fuck and I remember gagging a few times (there is no worst taste in life than broken teeth). There was a good deal of pain afterwards sure, but it wasn't that bad.
And now for a word of advice to those getting your wisdom teeth taken out in the near future:
If you're a mouth breather, don't fall asleep until the bleeding subsides. I fell asleep as soon as I got home and woke up with blood drooled all the fuck over me. It seriously looked like I got stabbed in the chest. It ruined my sheets, my pants, and a nice shirt

Ugh, that's the worst taste in the damn world. One of my fillings broke and I never noticed it until I went to the dentist half a year later. So it had six months for shit to drain into it and fester. He drilled that bitch out and I almost vomited because I could smell and taste it.

Gr8shot - why wouldn't you take the antibiotics? They're to keep your mouth from getting infected while the holes heal.

It's the suction you create in your mouth when you smoke or drink through a straw. I seem to recall hearing something about how it disrupts the blood clots that are forming, leaving dry sockets.
On an unrelated note, over the course of my recovery, I inadvertently swallowed four or five of the many pieces of folded-up gauze I had been using to absorb the blood.

If you have trouble taking antibiotics your doctor might be able to prescribe them in liquid form for you. My gf has trouble swallowing pills and had a kidney infection, her doctor gave her liquid stuff instead.

you might have dry sockets. if youve had your wisdom teeth removed wait at least 3 full days before smoking anything. if you have to absolutely smoke then keep those banadage things in your mouth while you do it
